Is a black hole in the line-up. If the Mets don't want Lagares playing, you cannot tell me that someone like Jennings or Taijeron in AAA can't do better for the Mets. Or start Flores at 3B and Rivera in LF (with Conforto playing CF)
you have to include Duda in that discussion. How does this guy get to play everyday??? I would much rather have either T J Rivera or Flores playing over there. This guy has 25 games where he hits a home run (if your lucky and he is not hurt) the other 135 games he gives you nothing. 10 days hot and 60 days totally cold. He kills an offense. I would love to see our won loss record with him versus without him in the line up. Last year as soon as he went out and Looney came in the offense picked up. Can't wait for Dom Smith to send this guy to the bench.

Duda is acceptable only if they can hit him at 7 or lower
They're likely recouping most of the $ from insurance anyway
so he's basically just an expensive coach. It'd be great if they could swap 1 of their underperforming hitters (Duda/Grandy) for an underperforming pitcher when Cespedes gets back.
Because he's the closer and it's probably going to be a 2-run game in the 9th? Is that a serious question?
If we score at least one more run you will have people wondering why someone else wasn't warming up even though there would not have been enough time to get someone else warmed up
you have a two run lead againsr a team that can't hit. You have to conserve Reed's use. What do you do tomorrow in a one run game? Stupid move to pinch hit! With the hits Collins will get off the hook but it exposes why he is aweful at managing a pen!

Agreed - this comment was prior to the 2 out rally. Now there's no reason for Reed, which looks like Collins is doing.

They pinch hit for Gsellman with Flores - which basically added 3 extra runs to the lead.
Eric...and what happens if Flores does not get a hit?
in the game pitching great and Terry like the idiot he is took him out.
Well he was in as a reliever, but regardless most managers would go for a PH in that spot with a chance of getting some insurance runs and your closer available.
most managers would realize the bullpen is depleted and totally taxed. They would also realize that everyday use of Reed will burn him out as well. You had a starter (Gzellman) ready to start pitching only his third inning with a two run lead and his first two innings had been excellent. Also, you had the bottom of the order coming up for the Angels and they are a bad hitting team to boot. Most managers would have continued on with Gzellman.
I hate TC but I can't kill him for taking Gsellman out
for a pinch hitter. Most managers make that move and it turned out to be the right decision anyway. And there's no way to know if Gsellman would still be as effective in the ninth. He hasn't exactly been very good this year.
Bottom line is that we walked three batters and gave up three hits in the ninth. We had a 5 run lead. The ninth should have been easier but that's baseball.
We got the win. And the Nats haven't been as dominating lately. Let's inch closer and hope to stay in striking distance.

We don't pinch hit, we don't get the insurance runs we need. Gsellman had two good innings, but he has sucked this year. No guarantee he does well pitching a third.
Bases loaded nobody out opportunities
He's got like $60 million coming to him, not sure how he'd walk away from that.
Go easy. Zack has been our no 2 starter after Syndergaard's injury

This is why Collins needs to go.

He sucks.
I don't think he had any walks all year. But bring him in with runners on and he can't find the plate.
Thank God the Mets won but really why have fans figuered this out but it has eluded our "brain" trust?

But the real blame goes to the front office for not bolstering the pen when they had the money
