Interesting thing the Yankees are doing. They are currently hitting ground balls to Hicks with the idea that he could possibly play 1st base.
I don't expect him to field a ball like Teixeira, but that would be a big plus if he can play the position better than Carter or Holiday.
Hicks belongs in the lineup every day, but as all Yankee fans know, there are three outfielders who stand in his way.
What say you?
I look at it differently. Looking at today's lineup, Hicks is on the bench and Carter is of course batting 9th and playing 1st. The lineup would be better if Hicks was playing 1st rather than Carter.
Rotating him in and out of the outfield helps, but if he could also play an adequate first base, then he'd be playing almost every day.
I'm so glad that Joe stuck with him even when the fans had started to get on his case. Joe knows what he has in his players and Hicks only needs to play regularly to be a huge asset to this team. I'm glad Joe is trying to find more ways to get Hicks in the game.
Good problem to have.
AAA Scranton is also LOADED with MLB ready 4th OFers, I know organic is best but I would have another fire sale this year if the yanks aren't leaders of the division on late July. Gardy, Ells, Romine, headley, Tanaka, Pineda, Cc, Clippard, I'd trade as many as possible.
Also some kids need to be traded soon also before they become risks for rule 5 and stuff
