NFT: Yankees - Rays

kelsto811 : 5/21/2017 2:08 pm
Yanks had 2nd and 3rd, 0 outs in the 1st. Archer struck out Holiday, Castro, Judge.

Sanchez error allowed 1 in the 1st for the Rays

Gardner goes yard to make it 3-1 yanks

3-1 Yanks in the top 3rd. Archer already at 50 pitches.
Love the Gardy.

7 K's for Archer
kelsto811 : 5/21/2017 2:12 pm : link
5 out of 7 from the Yanks 3/4/5 hitters. The production from the top/bottom of the order has offered great support this year
This line up

Strikes out way to much Archer not even through 3 innings and has 8 strikeouts

This lineup has been top 2-3 in baseball this year. How can you bitch about our offense this year?

They lead the league in just about every offensive category and you're bitching about it? Geezus.
They do strike out a lot
Kyle in NY : 5/21/2017 2:40 pm : link
but a strike out counts the same as any other out. I'll live with the K's in exchange for the explosive potential the offense has on any given day
Whose bitching???
13ODB : 5/21/2017 2:40 pm : link
I said they strike out a lot, it's a fact!!! not bitching.. if I was bitching I would be killing this peice of garbage Carter for strikeout out every goddam at bat

Yeah, they should lead in every offensive category. What's wrong with them?
Hi Joe, so what do you do for a living?

- I work for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Sweet! That's awesome! What do you do for them?

listening to these TB broadcasters is too much. Their pitchers are smarter, their hitters are better, their path is brighter. It is wearing me down. Let's win this thing.

Love Dewayne Staats as a Yankee broadcaster, not so much with the Rays.
Another reason to have MLB.TV on the computer....

I have mlb.com but I enjoy watching it on my big screen. I am watching on Fox Sports FL. These guys are not the worst but like any home team, the better their team plays in a series, the more confident they get.
Yanks take this one 3-2

Yes, I have the Rays on the same Fox Sports FL. I have not figured how to get MLB.TV on my TV which I should be able to as it is a smart tv. I don't remember my password or I'd give it a go one evening.

Such suffering.

Good job by Betances. Love when he is locked in..
Ugly day for the offense
Kyle in NY : 5/21/2017 4:42 pm : link
but CC battled, the bullpen was good, and Judge's defense saved the game.

Much needed. Hate playing the Rays, especially in that dump. Always gives us trouble
Some catch by Judge. The kid can do everything.
yatqb : 5/21/2017 4:43 pm : link
This may be some special team going forward, particularly if Severino, Adams and Tanaka can become 1A or 1B pitchers. Tanaka has to straighten himself out, but I'm not giving up on him given the small sample size.
Nice to salvage a .500 road trip.

Speaking of the dump, do you think the lighting is so bad there the Yanks have trouble seeing the ball. All the Ks by our better hitters....

The Yanks lead all of MLB with a .351 team OBP. Chris Archer happens to be a very good pitcher who's 7th in MLB in strikeouts, and he struck out a lot of guys today. It happens.

How about CC going out and pitching a strong game and beating the Rays to avoid the sweep...for a guy we've been almost universally killing, he showed up in a big way today

CC is a #5 pitcher at this point - best we can hope for is a 50% winning percentage and 6 innings per outing. He's got heart and goes out every game and leaves it on the field.

I said it earlier in the week after his last start. He really has come up big like 4 times already. He's not consistent any more but he does seem to still have the ability to rise to the occasion.

You mean just because he can't hit, is awful in the field and has terrible body language? Those measly reasons?

Come on. Give the guy a break.

Torres promoted to Scranton.

They've always been shitty. I recall a few years ago listening to them complain about payroll disparity (between NYY and TB) for THREE STRAIGHT HOURS. Texas and obviously Hawk Harrelson are the only ones I recall being as bad.

The offense struck out a franchise record 26 times in that Sunday night game against the cubs, last Thursday in KC they struck out 14 times and 17 times yesterday. It worries me I'm sorry
It's not wrong to worry about the Ks
Matt M. : 5/22/2017 1:20 pm : link
Their offense has been, overall, amazing. And, at its best, they are striking out a lot. It's like I said last week, when I kept reading and hearing about how Judge cured himself of his K problems. Huh? I might be wrong by a game or two, but I think he has struck out at least once each game. Granted, in his other ABs he is doing well and walking enough. But, what happens when he is a little cold? And please...I am not criticizing him or complaining. I'm just pointing it out.
