I been a fan of some great Celtics teams dating back to the days of Bill Russell. While I ve never viewed this year s version as anything but a pleasant surprise, certainly not a championship contender, Inhave enjoyed their competitiveness.
I was not at all surprised by the outcome of the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals. However I will say that last night s victory might be the most unexpected positive outcome for any team I have rooted for.
I gave them zero chance to win that game. To do it in Cleveland down 21 pts was a remarkable feat.
Andy other Celtics fans out there.
Last night's comeback was fun after being totally embarrassed in Boston. Obviously Cleveland is the superior team but this Boston squad has come a long way without nearly the star power. The fun probably ended last night. :)
Never really saw like that but to a degree I can agree but DJ BB IQ was a lot better ... if Smart gets consistent there and plays within self he will have a nice career.
That is it right there ... and I hope Ainge finds a good medium in getting more firepower without gutting the team too much to do it.
That being said, I don't expect the same results the next two games. Try not to lose by 40, and go into the off-season with a little taste of success!

True ... surprised Brown did not get much burn though....

they won a game. It's good for the kids to see they can hang with the better team ON the road. It's great experience.

Brown has looked good..and his comments were taken out of context. I think he was spot on.
Once you fear your opponent, you lose!!!
joe, I can see some similarities. Tough physical defense, capable of hitting big shots at big moments and not a big offensive threat. DJ always played within himself, where Smart has struggled with his hotheaded temperament. Last night he stayed contained and played really well. The Cavs could not exploit IT and had a little more trouble scoring when the game got close, however the Cavs hit unbelievable long shots in the first half. Good game.
I know C's fans would probably scoff at the idea but something like Horford and Thomas for cousins. I think Stevens is the type of coach that can get to cousins. He's an ELITE defender when he's keyed in (which admittedly hasn't been as often as one would like so far). They could potentially have the best defense if Bradley, smart, brown and Crowder are getting 35 minutes a game a piece.

C's have a real weakness at rebounding/ rim protection. It will be an interesting off season because IT and Bradley are entering there last year of their contracts. Don't see them both getting what they want. A trade could happen. I think if Ainge wanted Cousins he could have offered the Kings more than they received from the Pelicans with his assets. Not sure there is a comfort level with Cousins.
Missed it. We're good.
However, the Celtics have a super-young guy that they stashed after the last draft, named Ante Zizac. He is supposed to be an athletic big with good rim protection skills and maybe a little pop. He's skinny and will need to build an NBA body but they are very high on him.
But paying IT and Horford a combined $70M a year entering their 30s with Brown and Fultz on the roster doesn't seem to be the best use of cap space.
Brad Stevens said it at halftime: keep playing and wait for the law of averages to catch up to the Cavs shooting. They weren't going to shoot 60-70% from the three point line all series.

Kevin Love was a better player last night. LeBron was far and away the best player on the floor the first 2 games, after being the best player on the court the previous 8 games. It's a joke you call him out after his 1st mediocre game of the playoffs.
Awesome showing by the Celtics. I'm still not sold on Brad Stevens as the next amazing coach like everyone has him set up to be, but everytime it looks like the Celtics are on the ropes in these playoffs... they respond. Credit goes to Stevens for that.

Don't instigate this again, some people have their decisions made up for them and aren't open to new information or perspective. Not worth it.

I think Zizic has a bright future and will turn some heads next year. He is big, strong, and athletic and has the relentless gene like Smart. He has been playing for David Blatt in Turkey and Blatt is very high on him.
