Taking my family to NY (upstate and city) as part of summer vac. Been living in FL, haven't spent much time in the city in a long time and have never been to Citi Field. Staying for a few days in Chelsea area (29th street between 6th and 7th ave).
Would appreciate advice for getting to and from Citi Field. Most concerned with returning after the game. Wouldn't be a big deal if it was myself and some friends, but it will be my wife, young daughter and son.
Is the LIRR to Penn Station a better option than the subway (where we would have to transfer from the 7 to the W train at Queensboro Plaza)?
Thanks!
Plus the LIRR runs less often and costs 3x as much.
No prob. One tip: Just make sure your metrocards have enough cash for everyone before you even leave for the game. Last thing you want to be dealing with is a line 2 dozen people deep just to put money on your card.
If you see something, say something.
If you choose to play three card monte, do not go for the middle.
Train might be packed so take your time checking out the sights after the game.
Mets dash on Sundays (12 and under) will require lining up outside the bullpen gate and wait about 45 minutes .

Watch the gap?
It can get crowded though..

And you can also sit with the 7 crazies in the outfield. Wear orange. :)
I don't think it's more comfortable. It gets just as crowded as the subway. However, yes, it is definitely a bit quicker.
if you're looking for something with long delays, rude employees, overpriced, and would like to end up in hell on earth go LIRR.
Thanks everybody!
