I think Landon Collins MIGHT come up next episode and Odell is top 10 or 20. And that means OV, JPP, DRC, Eli and the rest of the team is not on this list. I think all of them plus Pugh, Richburg, Apple, Engram and maybe even Marshall, Sheppard and Perkins have a real shot to crack the list next year.. after a super bowl!
Players voting on this makes it completely unreliable.
How so? They know about what's going on more so than anyone else.
I'm actually glad the players choose. Shows you what they think of their peers.
I'm not actually sure they do know more than anyone else. Over the course of a season, players are too locked in to watching video of the teams they have to play to pay attention to the whole league.
It's really more of a live-in-the-moment popularity contest than a measure of greatness. There weren't 96 better player than Damon Harrison in 2016. And he isn't a one-year wonder, but he wasn't on the list at all last year.
I think when you consider the importance of the position he plays, there weren't 54 players better than Janoris Jenkins either.
RE: RE: RE: RE: Collins and Snacks should be out there too
if so it is players voting on the top 20, which is used to build a top 100 list.
Which makes it really bizarre. Lets say they all take it seriously and dont just vote for teammates and guys they used to play with etc. Everyone should have the same top 10-12 players in their top 20 I'd think. So it's taking the scattered votes on the last 8-10 of the top 20. There shouldnt be what, more than 25-30 players in the running for that last group. So that covers your top 35-40 players.
So logic tells us that everyone 41-100 is therefore likely getting ranked on VERY few scattered, random votes. Maybe even 30-100. One voter picking a random good but not amazing player as top 10 could catapult that player into the rankings. If response rate is low from one division, players from that division will likely suffer in the ranks (I wonder what controls are in place).
Snacks is the most criminally underrated player in the NFL. It makes no fucking sense. He plays in New York (always has) has a cool name, a great personality, and is an absolute dominate presence up the middle.
You could make a legitimate argument he's the best player
Snacks was named in the 90s Im pretty sure.

Why wouldn't Collins make it? It won't be surprising if he will be about JJ because his stats were out of the world.

IIRC the voting as mentioned makes it a bit of a popularity contest. He should be. But as mentioned the voting is a bit goofy.

nice to see some Giants nonetheless...
Jenkins played a higher level than Collins in 2017, IMO.
Thats not intended as a knock on Collins, but to point out how outstanding the Rabbit really was, IMO.

Granted, both of those factors are taking it to the other extreme, but just saying it to underscore how preposterous his reputation is as it stands.
Blount at 80 is crazy. These lists are crazy. Players are dumb. Players get the vote. The list is dumb.
