NFT: Question about last night's Yankee game

mavric : 5/23/2017 10:03 am
I had to leave the house last night and when I turned the TV off, Warren was on the mound and one of the Royals had just crossed home plate. He was called "safe" making the score 3-3. When

I got home, the score was 4-2. I looked everywhere to see why the Royals were only given 2 runs when I saw them score 3 runs.

Was the run overturned for some reason? Did the umpire change his mind? Would someone please explain to me what I missed after that play?
Yankees challenged the play at 1st, and won.

That was the third out, so the run didn't count.
Girardi challenged and won

Runner that was ruled safe at first was declared out.
Thanks guys

couldn't believe the score when I got back home. Now I understand
The overturned call could've saved the game

Carter hesitated to argue with the official for a sec which resulted in a delayed throw to home. I thought both runners were safe. Wish the NFL and NBA would overturn calls that quickly.
I can't believe any 1b would still do that...

...after Clu Haywood did it and cost the Yankees that game in Cleveland.
He was out

By an eyelash, but I must admit that I was surprised they overturned it, I would say that you could argue it wasn't conclusive. It was only on the one angle that you could see he was out, the other 2 were inconclusive and if anything made it look like he was safe! The one angle you could see the ball hit the webbing of the glove and his foot was about a 1/2 inch short of the base while coming down. That is a tough overrule, but I was thrilled and let out a yell because I didn't think they would overrule it.
Girardi is the challenge king

I'm pretty sure he has the highest percentage of successful challenges since the rule was enacted.
I was shocked the call was overturned.

I am 95% sure he was actually out. But, I didn't think there was a chance in Hell they would overturn the safe call based on that replay.

That also has a lot to do with whatever staff they have dedicated to this. He gets his answers right away and they have a high rate of success.
I thought he was out when

the play was made. It was closer than I thought. The one angle clearly shows the ball hitting Carter's glove and the foot just above the bag. MLB must have seen that right away. Had to be the fastest reversal ever.
