I'd agree if Plawecki didn't blow so bad. Even if they go into more of a TDA/R. Rivera split I think it could be a really good thing assuming Rivera keeps it up and how easily catchers get banged up. Just my opinion though.

Hard to disagree. I'd just hate to see Rene go to the bench in favor of TdA. Not when he's been raking all season. But he's also bound to cool at some point. What he's doing is just crazy.
It's crap that Conforto likely doesn't make the all-star Â
game because he wasn't on the ballot. They should finalize the ballot like 30 days in advance of the game IMO.
Why wasn't he on the ballot? He's been fantastic all season.
Because the listed starters on opening day for the OF were Cespedes-Granderson-Bruce. People can still right in "Conforto" but he'll never get enough votes that way.
just to make the ballot without being "written in"?
Yeah. I think the team has to submit who their starters are and Conforto was out.
The team seemed to be leaning towards sending Conforto to Las Vegas to get playing time before Nimmo got hurt.
Either way only 3 OF get picked as starters so even if Conforto was always going to be on the bench to start the season he still would have been out. The rule is stupid. Guys get injured all the time. I think the ballots shouldn't be finalized until a month or so out. Its another reason why guys who get injured and miss the entire first half get voted in. They are still on the ballot and half the people voting dont even know any better.
RE: I used to think that Harvey was such a big swinging dick Â
but he does seem to be weak mentally. He'll always have the injury excuse to fall back on but he sure doesn't seem to react to adversity well at all.
We'll see how the season goes, but he looks like he's regressing. Frankly, he's lucky to only have given up 2 runs so far.
I agree with this 100%. Harvey IS weak. He is very sensitive. Ive seen it for years now. He's not a swinging dick at all. I think it was all a media creation from the Dark Knight stuff/Boras/ect.
I do think he's flashed here and there and if he regained some confidence he might have a shot but who know's at this point? Im just letting it play out. At least we dont owe him a ton of money or anything. It's disappointing though for sure.
My favorite was a few weeks ago when Francesser was fluffing Girardi about how they now have the premier hitter in baseball and how is Judge going to handle all the attention and endorsements of being the premiere hitter in NY and baseball......after 27 games.
The guy is good...no doubt, but can we give it some time? I'm still exhausted from everyone already annointing Sanchez as the next Babe Ruth after his first 30 games.

Just asking everyone of his guests who would they take Judge or Conforto. And most including Peter Gammons said Judge
Im a little detached lately. Is Smoker an option to get a start for Milone? I know he was getting stretched out in Vegas or is he strictly taking Robles spot in the pen?
IMO, he was starting just to get some work to return to the bullpen. I was at this game in Vegas this week. He pitched 4 innings before he was taken out. BTW, he was lucky to make it thru the first inning. Remaining innings were good.
I suspect he won't stay on the 75 HR pace he was on, and you might want to see him go around the league 2-3 times before you anoint him. Pitchers do make adjustments.
but Judge had some warning flags in the minors. His high K totals were always alarming. If anything, Conforto should be the shining example as to why you "shouldn't" trust a small sample after a first call-up. Conforto set the world on fire in 2015 too. In 2016, the league adjusted back, he struggled, he had to go down and find himself in AAA and now he's back and killing it all year almost two years later.
I think Judge is going to be a great young player but I cant take anything he's doing seriously until I see a MUCH bigger sample.
I'm enjoying Conforto right now - what Judge does really doesn't matter. I don't know why it always has to be a dick measuring contest in NY.
The Yankees have some nice young hitters. No reason to turn everything into a competition.
Right now, Michael Conforto's OPS is the same as Bryce Harper's and he's top 5 in all of baseball. Kid is the goods.
The real problem right now is our pitching. Which is incredible when you think about what we went into the year with and what the expectations were. But when you lose your best starter, your best reliever, 2 other guys are hurt, and 2 are coming off injuries.. well, I guess that's how it goes.
The Mets are going to need their hitting to carry them until they get a little help. Matz and Lugo would certainly be nice to have back.
It's just something NY does and I was commenting on the media hysteria that seems to be developing this last week. Right or wrong, if Judge and Conforto both fulfill their potential they will be compared against each other in NY. Just how it goes.
The team is still a mess overall. We need to really keep trying to take 2-3 from teams and claw our way back until the cavalry starts to trickle in. Cespedes, TDA, Cabrera, Matz, and Lugo could all be coming back within a week which of course will help. At that point Id hope we can hover around .500 or slightly better until the deadline. Get a closer to replace Familia and maybe even another starter until Syndergaard is back (Wheeler will be at his limit too) and we could have a real shot in the postseason again but that's ways off AND assumes nothing else goes wrong. One day at a time.

Nope, my numbers are correct. Checked two different places. Maybe check yours?
Well, I also checked multiple places. But I just realized the issue: we're talking about different Riveras.

TJ Rivera - Rosario - Flores/Cab - Smith
TDA
Will this lineup hit enough?

Could use a Martin Prado type utility guy but that would be a fun team to watch.

With all the money coming off the books they need to make a serious run at that Japanese kid
