Sanchez not playing tonight! Binders.
I feel a little bad for Headley - he had a nice few weeks, then quickly remembered he's Chase Headley.
I'm guessing All-Star break for Torres?
But we're paying him $12 million this year, so I don't feel too bad
Speaking chinese food, Torres pulled something today?
Say it ain't so Joe - ( New Window )
I can't believe that any food at Metrotown is "good". You must have been eating with your eyes. Vancouver has much to offer in that regard.
I'd love to find someone to take him but I don't see him adding value to a package for a starter who is appreciably better than Cessa/Green. I think he will be a throw-in.
For now let's just hope Torres didn't rolled his ankle playing 3B.
Cactus Club is actually pretty good. They changed their menu a few years ago. My wife drags me there at least twice a month (downtown locations). Lot of talent there - on and off the menu.
I'm still trying to figure out what he throws. I can't tell if he is a sinker-cutter pitcher or a a FA/FT combo with good movement.

And a buddy of mine ended up smashing a waitress at Cactus Club on Kingsway that night. I vaguely remember their Lingcod being passable. Solid evening for all.

Agree. Our servers were smoking. And the disinterested hostess wasn't fooling anyone.

to strike out Cain. Good 1st inning

If Montgomery throws that pitch consistently to the hands of righty hitters he will be a solid big league starter. His stuff is OK but not dominating so he needs location with a specific pitch to righties
I agree, although Judge seems to just take it as good fun, which is a healthy attitude. Hoping it doesn't add pressure for him.

Can we let him be good for a whole year first?

Thought the same thing...
Agree. It's a silly ploy to draw more attention to the Yankee brand. Let the kid breathe a little.
If it "fails" he'll be killed in the media despite not having anything to do with such a gimmick.
Fuckin lite-Steins and Levine are trash.
I like it - but I think it is a year early. If they know Judge better than I do - which is arguably true - i'm hoping they factored in what will help him on the field.
Well done son.
1-0
The umps need to judge Judge's strikezone better. They keep calling too many pitches at his ankles because that is where normal men have their knees.
He has got to start covering that pitch. He seems to get called out at least once per game on that low outside strike. Just needs to poke one down the line a few times to protect against that being a called third strike.
I don't disagree. But when a pitcher has nasty breaking stuff like Duffy, it is sometimes worth swinging a 1st pitch FB.

He hit that decently but sometimes I wish he would wait for a pitch he could really drive.

Yep I agree. Duffy walked Judge barely and he's not a guy you look for a walk on. You see a pitch you like jump on it

that 3-2 changeup could have easily been strike 3. I'll take it though...2 on for Didi

Batting coaches need to work on Judge with those low pitches. Pitchers will keep throwing that low pitch if he refuses to swing at them, especially with two strikes.
He's been pitching way the hell too much.
4 game series so need 3 to win the series.
That's right forgot this was a 4 game series.
Warren was excellent for most of the season, dipshit
:)
Agreed. Chapman being out hurts too. Could use a day off and a couple of lengthy SP appearances.
Maybe time to bring up Chance Adams and let him fill in some role to eat some innings until Chapman is back. The bullpen has great arms, but not when they are overused.
Nah, but that's okay. Enjoy the ride.

Clearly, it is. Enjoy the thread. :)
To be fair, I perused the thread in question, all the comments about Judge were reasonable. He is being anointed based on a small sample size, and he's now facing a second time through the league when teams have a few weeks of ABs to study on film and look for holes/weaknesses.
HRs aside, he's maintaining a good BA and OBP and still showing patience, which is all very good. And he's proving better than I think most of us expected in the field, both with glove and arm.
Love the Judge, but people need to accept that he's not going to hit .300+ or OPS 1.000+ this year. He's going to regress, he's going to make adjustments, it's going to happen. I'm glad the Yankees are making at least some incremental adjustments to their anti-fun, anti-personality mindset in response to him but I worry that they're putting a little too much pressure on him.
