6) New York Giants The Giants have scored big over the last two seasons in terms of adding to their roster. This year, they added rookie tight end Evan Engram and veteran Brandon Marshall to a pass-catching group that already boasted Odell Beckham (one of the NFL's best) and Sterling Shepard (an up-and-comer). In 2016, free-agent signees Janoris Jenkins, Olivier Vernon and Damon Harrison elevated a defense that received a further boost from the breakout of safety Landon Collins and the return to form of Jason Pierre-Paul. The Giants will run the ball with Paul Perkins -- who has star traits at running back -- a lot better this year, which will help take some pressure off Eli Manning. While he's not his brother Peyton, Eli does still have as much velocity on the ball and moves around just as well as he did in 2015 his last Pro Bowl season. And, of course, he's a two-time Super Bowl winner. Left tackle Ereck Flowers must improve, but I'm confident offensive line coach Mike Solari can get him to play better. |

then
NFC South and AFC West with 2
But that's just me watching him in 2016...
Basically, our skill position players were:
WR: OBJ, Randle, Preston Parker
TE: Donnell, Fells
RB: Andre Williams, Darkwa
Compare that to now to get a sense of how improved the team is talent wise. That offense did well, scoring regularly against a Rams defense coming off 12 consecutive quarters without allowing a TD, and allowing no 1Q TD's (other than a return) that season, aside from the Giants game.
On defense, the guys getting the most play on the DL were JPP, Kuhn, Patterson, and Wynn. (FWIW, Wynn had a great game with a pick-6 and a sack).
The back end was headlined by DRC and Rolle.
Our defense is much more talented today.
Thanks for the link.

Eli threw downfield and pocket moved just fine last year it's just that he didn't display those traits as frequently second half of the year. To say he didn't have zip on the ball or "slide"' in the pocket last year ala 2010 is false. He just had a lot more quiet games.
Could it be that the offensive perennial was downright terrible outside of Beckham and a solid shepard? Nah can't be that. How were Eli's stats last year anyway? Right about average for his career. Amazing.
Cruz, Jennings and donnell are still out of work. Vereen isn't injured. Perkins isn't a wet nosed rookie that couldn't even attend OTAs last year. Tye won't start anymore thank heavens and Marshall, engram and Ellison are here.
4000 plus
26 tds
11 wins
With an absolutely terrible supporting cast of talent other than Beckham and Shepard.
Talk to me next season.
