Say what you want about Francesa, no one is better at these types of interviews. Kay is unbelievably bad interviewing coaches and athletes. Peter Rosenberg is even worse. Hopefully Lagrega asks most of the questions.
im good with it. the HC never offers much and Ben is more like TC in that he wont give up anything good. I think Brandon is going to do a spot too. get 1 of the D guys, Snacks would be great, and that could cover 3 days of the week.
RE: why is this such a source of excitment to you LC?
Are you in reality Michael Kay, well known Steinbrener spleen licker?
I enjoyed those spots last year. McAdoo was very engaging and they had some good conversations.
Fatso showed him little or no respect on many occasions. Whether he was a rookie coach or not, he is the coach of the New York Giants and has certainly accomplished more in his life than someone who talked about nonsense for 40 years and is known for drinking Diet Coke.
interviews to me are boring, repetitive canned responses that 99% of the time give you nothing. The other 1% ends up with the interviewed subject regretting the interview in the first place while his/her comments get dissected and hyper analyzed for the next month.
If McAdoo was getting interviewed by Howard Stern i'd be excited. Go spend time at home with the family there Ben. BEtter than talking to the pope.
As I sit here listening to the pope lecture the wr and the Giants, id assume the man actually thinks he partially runs the team. But then of course there are fellow giants fans who will always hate on their favorite teams to side with media.
Anyone able to explain that-?
This guy is talking about drops...he had 101 catches and 6 drops. 3.5%
in this town that the media is there to rip everybody and create stories. It's why Rex Ryan had more ink spilled on him than Tom Coughlin. Rex went to two AFC title games!
The best way to deal with it is like Eli or Derek Jeter - say nothing and/or pretend like you don't understand the question.
Mac tried seriously answering Fatso in the beginning and got burned on the Beckham stuff. So he learned his lesson and good for him.
From the way Francesca was talking, McAdoo does not want to do interviews and will only do those he's required to do. Now, if McAdoo turns up on Kay or another show that he's not required to do, then your thread title is accurate. If not, it shows a dumb bias. There is so little Giants coverage because do many hosts are Jets fans. You're going to get your rocks off celebrating we'll have less Giants coverage? You're really a good Giants fan.

Speaking of Rosenberg. That guy is a moron, he has zero sports knowledge I don't get how is on with them. His nauseating political nonsense is annoying too.
If the HC does not want to do a stupid non-mandatory show, I have his back. You get great comments from Mac on Bob Papa's interview on the team site though I know few of you watch that. You should.

I agree. I do enjoy Carl Banks weekly interview.
I do too but banks and others like him are speaking about something else not themselves. If it's about themselves or their team it's usually crap.

Once upon a time the Kay show was pretty good. Now it's downright cringeworthy. Rosenberg is horrendous

You do realize that if nobody speaks with the media, we the fans suffer. I'll never understand those that think it is good when the fans' source of information doesn't get information.

This is an interesting opinion to me, because my experience is that we don't learn anything from athletes doing interviews. When is the last time you paid attention to an interview and thought to yourself that you learned something?
I think it's completely unnecessary. These guys are conditioned to say lots of nothing and speak in re-re-re cycled cliches.
and frequently blames Giants ownership/management for not dealing with him properly. He also prides himself on being the guy willing to take interview subjects to task over things like that.
Which is fine...but I'm sure McAdoo has better things to do than spend 20 minutes every week explaining to Francesa why he doesn't discipline OBJ more
that's all I care about. Eli is pretty revealing with the game plan. Ben, like Jerry Reese, keeps everything close to the vest and gave too many generic responses. Outside of Mike needling him about OBJ, there wasn't anything worth tuning into.
He's not a bad listen on other interviews, but he had a habit of asking the same question over and over and badgering McAdoo when he didn't hear what he liked.
I get it - he's welcome to disagree with McAdoo. But if you ask a question 2-3 times, why do you think the answer is going to change beyond that point? Ask once, maybe follow up, then move on.
People can't wait to get their hot takes out about odell. The sports media is incredibly dishonest in their approach on this. All mike has to do is start talking about Odell and the phone lines light up. So by complaining about Odell's behavior, he keeps Mike Francesa relevant. Michael Kay does the same thing.
Complain that the kid is overexposed, but use the overexposure to feed your show content thus making money off it.
I love Mike, and listening in the car yesterday... but all those numbskulls who want to trade OB2 made me want to put my head through the windshield.
Thank God JR doesn't listen to those fools.

From McAdoo's perspective, it's a good call. I remember after Francesa went off on him about OBJ, it didn't seem worth the headache for McAdoo.

He's been so bad for a decade. But the unintentional comedy is amazing.
