NFT: S- Town Podcast (no spoilers, please)

FranknWeezer : 5/24/2017 3:27 pm
Who's listening? I'm 3 episodes in. Strange twists and turns in this thing.

Here's the premise, for those of you who may not know (it's by the same folks who did the Serial podcast):
Quote:

JOHN DESPISES HIS ALABAMA TOWN AND DECIDES TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. HE ASKS a reporter to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, sparking a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man’s life.

Pretty captivating stuff...

Just finished up the whole thing last week actually.

Really enjoyed it all the way through.
Lost interest after the 4th-5th episodes

Not sure if I can really say why without giving away anything. From anyone who finished the whole thing does the story drastically change after the 5th story or does it continue in the same direction?
Don't really want to give anything away.

You do get pulled in quite a few directions in the second half, so in that sense there was enough change to keep a hold of me until the end.
Honestly

It left me disappointed in the end. Kind of just withered to an ending after building up so many potential plot twists.
I loved it

Each episode left me thinking differently about the entirety of the story, right up until the end.

John is a fascinating character, full of contradictions. Amazing podcast.

That's how I imagined things would go. The OP is 3 episodes in so this won't give anything away really, but it kind of felt like the podcaster went to Alabama, found out he was being led on, didn't really bad a story and then the suicide happened and just made it about that

The main dude is pretty interesting and funny in odd ball John Waters character type of way, there are still some fascinating things revealed but none of those things really lead to a conclusion.
agree with DC Gmen Fan

on his take of how the podcast went.

I'll say this: John B McLemore is an absolutely fascinating character and possesses a tremendous level of engineering brilliance and curiosity which stands out even more given his upbringing.

For those who listened all the way through, here is a video of Tom Moore showing off the sundial that John B made for him

I found it to be a waste of time..

Seemed intriguing, but overall I was very disappointed.

Anyone looking for a new podcast I recommend "Heavyweight," by the Gimlet Media team. Very good stuff if you're looking for stories on human interaction and resolving previous conflict.
