As this is coming up on the long Memorial Day weekend, it's time to go back to one of my first group of games I did a review on, and this was a game which, without much argument was the most significant Giants victory since their glory days in the early 1960s.
This game set up the chance for the Giants to make the playoffs, which was an unheard of thought after the down years of the mid 1960s through the 1970s. They had a rookie LB named Lawrence Taylor, who changed the whole defense, led by a young defensive coordinator named Bill Parcells. And they had to do it against the Dallas Cowboys, who were already locked into the playoffs, but owned the Giants year after year. And they did it with Madden and Summerall on the call.
And if BBI were around in 1981, Joe Danelo would have caused the servers to crash.
In the end, it was one of the most memorable wins in Giants history.

Only us old farts remember this - but through the 60's and 70's, the Giants weren't just bad - they were EPICALLY HORRIBLE. A laughingstock. The 'Fumble' was the highlight of an offense seemingly designed to be the worst of all-time, an offense who's most celebrated player was it's punter, a team that missed the playoffs for 17 straight seasons, Giant fans expected little and got even less.
And the Giants were Dallas' BITCH. We didn't just lose games to the Cowboys, we were their plaything. Giants stadium would be packed with no-nothing, fair-weather Cowboy fans - so that freezing Sunday, there was really no hope of actually winning - of having an actual shot at the playoffs?
An amazing game - many tears of joy as the house erupted like never before as Danelo's horrible day as a goat ended raised on Giant shoulders.
I'll never forget it and thank you for bringing back the amazing details of that game.
