Bills coach Sean McDermott says free-agent LB Gerald Hodges is "on his way back to Buffalo" and there is a "good chance" he signs with Bills. Hodges visited the Bills earlier this week and also made a trip to meet with the Giants. If signed, Hodges will be added to a competition at outside linebacker.
I doubt that the Bills are offering much more money and I doubt that the contract is more than one year. I assume he'd be getting not that much more than the vet minimum and that he'd want a 1 year show me contract. I don't know much about the Bills defense or LB group but it's not like on the Giants, he'd have great competition at LB and could end up starting on a good defense and one probably alot better than the Bills. Plus, he's a local NJ kid and the Giants are way more likely to be a playoff team and possibly go deep in the playoffs. Are there any expectations for the Bills?
Do we know that the Giants made an offer to Hodges? If yes, him going to the Bills is a surprise?
Bills coach says "they are expected to" sign Hodges, or Hodges "is expected to" sign with the Bills, or whatever.
Passive voice is odd there. Not "We expect to sign him," or "He said he expects to sign with us."
I mean, if he's "expected to" sign, or "they are expected" to sign him, who expects that? Not the player, not the team, so who? The NFL Network guys? Paul Schwartz? My high school friends who sill live in Rochester?
