I remember when Anak was in high school and an annoying gnat of a poster.
Congratulations. Go forth and do great things!
Time really does fly by. I was only a high school senior when the Giants won the SB in 2008. I've been having major existential crises lately but alas. At least I'm not going gray or bald. Haha
I still have the BBI Law Advice thread saved. I used it a lot early on. Unfortunately, 1L was my worst year so I blame all of you guys. Haha
If you want, I can post the thread. It's from 2014.
No concrete plans yet. I have a few interviews in the coming months at firms and one for a clerkship, but nothing is set in stone. I'm fairly open in what I want to pursue. My concentration was IP, but it doesn't mean that's where I'll end up(though that would be ideal). I just know that I don't want to do litigation, tax, crim...but other than that, I'm open.
I'll probably work at a firm or clerk for a couple of years and hopefully make the jump to in house. My goal, as fantastical as it sounds, was to always work for a sports team, primarily the Giants. That would be a true dream come true.
So be prepared. In the coming years I'll be making an NYU-esque thread where I ask if anyone has any contacts within the Giants. Haha

Jerry Reese, I'm comin' for ya job!
Or in house counsel for the Giants. Either or
Stay positive in attitude, focused, enjoy the ride and things will unfold before your eyes as you're ready for them.
Depends on if they need me to work on Saturdays. But if they need to work during Giants games, they can go to hell. I haven't missed a Giants game since 2002.
We actually need many more lawyers. There are many people who need lawyers and cant afford them, probably because there are too few.
I don't plan on doing public interest or government work, but I've had some wonderful experiences doing pro bono work and I've seen my friends achieve such fulfillment from the Innocence Project and helping lift the travel ban. I'll continue to do pro bono work, but hey, I gotta pay back the exorbitant amount of loans I took out somehow.
Congrats! Did you hear the one about the Hindu, Jew, and the lawyer?
They were traveling together, and they were looking for a place to stop and rest for the night. The come across a farmhouse and knock on the door, the farmer answers, and the ask if he can let them stay for the night.
Farmer replies, "Sure, you can stay, but I only have room in the house for two, someone has to sleep in the barn. The hindu says, "I will do it, you guys take the house." So they all go to bed. A few minutes later there's a knock on the front door. It's the hindu. He says, "I'm sorry, I know I said I would sleep in the barn, but there's a cow in there, and they are sacred animals in my religion, I simply cannot sleep in the barn with the cow."
So the Jew says, "no worries, I'll sleep in the barn, you stay in the house," and so he retreats to the barn. A few minutes later, there's another knock on the door. It's the Jew. He says, "look, I know I said I would sleep in the barn, but there is a pig in there, and they are unclean animals in my religion. I'm sorry, I simply cannot sleep in the barn." The lawyer says, "don't worry about it, I'll take the barn," and off he goes to the barn.
A few minutes later, there's another knock on the door.
It's the cow and the pig.
Seriously, congratulations on passing the bar. Everyone loves to make fun of lawyers, until they need one.
Anakim. Respect. You hung in there. You showed a lot of what you are really made of in the last few years. Very cool to watch you from when you first came here. All the best.
Now in retrospective those threads on Rutgers and NYU were not silly at all but really about believing in yourself. And you were very right and many of us were very wrong.
Here's a joke I told my brother (also a lawyer...he's generous, other people he charges to sue, but he's always said he'd sue me for free!)

Q: How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Fifty four. Eight to argue, one to get a continuance, one to object, one to demur, two to research precedents, one to dictate a letter, one to stipulate, five to turn in their time cards, one to depose, one to write interrogatories, two to settle, one to order a secretary to change the bulb, and twenty-eight to bill for professional services.
is now UBE. Learning NY distinctions at the same time was a pain in the ass.
Congrats, and good luck.
End of an era. I remember that my year one of the long form answer fact patterns had to do with a wire tap. Im sure my answer was utter nonsense since all I knew about wire taps was that you needed a warrant, and the question already told you there was a warrant.
It's funny, I think having to learn just the highlights of 20+ areas of the law for bar prep served me better than all but a few classes from law school.

I'm not sure how it was put into law. I know Judge Lippman put the UBE into law, but I would think that would be up to the New York legislature.
Congrats anyways.

Agents school next? Serious question.
I toyed around with that idea early on, but it's such a difficult field to break into. Plus, it's commission-based and I would like a steady paycheck.

I take the UBE towards the end of July
UBE - Had to look that one up. Nice - about half the states in the Union.
Study hard and knock it out 1st time. Opens lots of doors.
I hope I don't JFK Jr. it. It's only been a couple of days of studying and I'm already overwhelmed.
Congratulations. Go forth and do great things!

WHAT THE FVCK???

Soft IP or real estate would be ideal, but I'm open

"Call me now! The Shirtless Vlogging Lawyer Guy!"
j/k - over the years Anak has literally grown up on BBI - once a whipping boy now a valued contributor.
Congrats Anakim - all the best to you!

Bravo.
I remember how you were years ago. You've grown a lot as a person since then. Hell, a lot of us have.
Best of luck going forward!
I hired The Jake to post for me
Nah, I multi-tasked. I had to continue doing my leisurely activities to keep myself sane.
Great job during The Draft this year as well...I enjoyed your take
Congrats again...
