As mentioned in another thread, switched jobs and got a sudden period of time off, booked an impromptu trip to Japan starting next week.

Any tips/suggestions, will be in tokyo for a stretch then winding all the way through Hakone. Takaya. Hiroshima. Kyoto. Wakayama and ends in osaka.

Any suggestions, specifically for Tokyo?

Suggestions on phone sim card? getting from tokyo airport to city, where to stay in Tokyo? Appreciate it.
Can't offer any advise

but twice for work. The other time my Jp girlfriend set the whole trip up with a some nights in cheap and typical small Tokyo area hotel room and a day/night in Hakone. Small shops, restaurants, hot springs, real quaint and of course the food is terrific. Also, though I've never been, I'm told the nightlife in Roppongi is good. Take it all in and enjoy yourself Hefty, it'll be a great trip.
Take a trip up..

Do some research for where you want to eat in Tokyo

You can get a good meal anywhere but some of the really special places require reservations way ahead of time. There are some sights in Tokyo but they generally pale in comparison to what you're going to see in Kyoto. Focus more on the food/drink side.

You have a nice itinerary. Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka were our favorites. I'd recommend a half day trip to Nara when you're staying in Kyoto or Osaka.
Sake Bar Yoramu in Kyoto

Saw a show on NHK World the other night about this place and was completely fascinated by it. This guy took a traditional Japanese drink and reintroduced it to the society which gave birth to it. This guy saw the value in a traditional Japanese spirit and built a small bar around it, while it was no longer fashionable in Japan and ended up creating what is supposed to be one of the few & greatest Sake bars in the world.

If I'm ever in Kyoto, I'm stopping in the place.

Apparently it's a popular thing to do in the summer, with people up and down the trail. I've always wanted to do it. Looks like a beautiful, great hike.
