NFT: Marathon runners: any success stories bouncing back from...

A hip arthroscopy for a torn labrum and FAI. Was a last resort for me but eventually the inflammation (I was told I had a ton), groin pain, very limited range of motion etc were way to much to give in to at 31 years old. I'm not ready to give up things like basketball, softball etc with my main love of running being at the top of the list. I have not heard of many great stories following this procedure in terms of distance running. I know certain athletes like A rod and currently Isaiah Thomas are dealing or have dealt with this in the past. But I am commonly seeing threads on the Internet from people who eventually switched to cycling post op. Just hoping someone here has bounced back from it and returned to running high mileage. Ps 5 weeks post op with no expectations for the next 6-12 months.
if there is no arthritis in the joint you should be fine

I can't really comment on your particular injury, but just like any injury related to running - take it easy coming back. When I came back after knee surgery a couple years ago I had to do months of run/walking. Like one min run one min walk. It sucked, but it ultimately worked out pretty well.
like said..try getting back slowly

everyones different in recovery. No guarantees. Listen to your body..and beginnings of discomfort, back off immediately. Patience and time is key. work back "ladderly" ( 1 day less, next up slighly, then next back down again)

exercise core and surrounding muscles of hip (legs, abs, etc) to compensate. good luck
