Collins getting some love on NFL Live

slickwilly : 5/26/2017 3:35 pm
Watching NFL live and they were talking about DPOY candidates for next year. One guy mentioned Bosa another Donald and Tedy Bruschi talked about Collins. They also had 4 pictures in the background while having the discussion - Watt, Mack, Miller and our own Landon Collins. Nice company to be in. Hopefully we have something special with this guy.
If he can top his last season

He will be in the conversation for sure.
I am still amazed

at the progress he made from his rookie season.
Well deserved.

My favorite player on the team, along with Snacks.
I was hoping that Jarrad Davis

would fall to the Giants in round 1. The Giants would have been incredibly strong up the middle with Snacks, Davis, and Collins.
I hope the new guy we also

picked from Alabama, in the same (second) round, follows suit!

LC is the kind of leader this team needs. There's also a nice article on him in Big Blue View.

He is a leader and an intimidating presence back there that every great defense needs.
He was remarkable last year and

the way he handles himself is impressive. Everyone talks about the FA signings last year and rightly so but his play had as much to do with the improvement of the defense as anything IMO.
I was watching some of the clips from the '07 & '11 teams

and I was struck by how much "character" those teams had and I saw a lot of that same behavior on Spag's side of the ball last season(offense not so much). Collins was right in the mix. If it continues grow, their defense is gonna be nasty.
I think SS L. Collins comes up very big this year

Assuming good health around him, this defense will be very hard to RUN or PASS on and that means QB's will have to force things. I can see Landon surpassing last year's numbers with respect to turnovers generated (interceptions, forced fumbles and recovered fumbles along with QB sacks, pressures and hits.

Unleash him, especially if D. Thompson, Eli Apple really step up and become studs in their own right. The talent in the secondary has the potential to be the NFL's best. All contingent on first health and second development of the youth: Apple, Thompson, Okwara, Tomlinson, Adams, Goodson and even possibly M. Thompson (slot corner, backup corner & safety. This is going to be a fun camp.
I was furious about him dropping that easy INT..
jnoble : 5/26/2017 10:19 pm : link
...late in 2015 against the Pats that wouldve ended the game but he was a rookie and got hurt on the play and with that awful defense, we weren't going anywhere anyway.

But yeah, I was pissed watching what shouldve been a gimme INT catch
He was 3rd in the DPOY voting last year
Deej : 5/26/2017 10:23 pm : link
as a 2nd year player. lets not pretend like there needs to be some projection in putting him up there.

Part of that, though, involves two awesome runbacks of INTs. I hope that becomes a habit a la Ed Reed, but I think we need to see a little more to be sure. That said, I love the player.

As a rookie he was asked to play out of position and with some of the worst talent the giants put out in years.

Bringing in Snacks was genius. And I've given Reese as much shit as anyone here It all fell into place with him and Jenkins. With a full year and with 1o out of 11 guys returning this D should be amazing. Vernon got all the pub with that huge deal but Snacks and Jenkins allowed Collins to be the guy he was supposed to be when drafted.
I agree.....

The leap that Collins made over his previous year, was just amazing.....you just do not see that, that often......we heard about all the hard work he put in.....and the experience he gained from being thrown into the fire, his first season, was invaluable......no longer was he the confused guy getting into his coverage, late...he went from a rookie to an all pro, it seems over night.....

You hope that the guy you draft, shows improvement in his second year......but his improvement over his rookie year was off the charts......
I always thought he was better his rookie year than lots on BBI
PatersonPlank : 5/27/2017 3:23 pm : link
As a rookie he played almost all the downs, so the coaches sure saw something. Plus he was on the all rookie team. It's hard to really look good when your fellow db's suck and you have no pass rush.
He was a beast last season
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 5/27/2017 4:40 pm : link
& will continue to be a star in this league, provided he stays healthy.

A ton of rookies get dramatically better after their first year. Just very few make a leap to all pro level by year 2.
