Of all the stories on that list the one about the depth chart drew your disgust??
Quote:
I know you have to write about something, but, come on.
Of all the stories on that list the one about the depth chart drew your disgust??
Not disgust. More like amusement.
I see TE Engram playing as both an inline TE and as a guy who splits out a lot, moves a lot, to find and create mis-matches. I look for the Giants to run a lot of two TE sets this year because we have playmakers and a blocking TE like Ellison could give Eli that .4-5 more seconds to find his OPEN man and not be as rushed.
I see DT Tomlinson starting now. He is super strong, an athlete who knows BALANCE cause wrestlers know BALANCE else they get pinned. He is also coming from a very worth program in AL so he is as pro-ready as a college DT likely can be. If he doesn't start game 1 he will be active and get snaps as he learns the game. We can live with DT Bromley as he does have experience and knows the position. DT Thomas I'm not quite as sold on but maybe I'm wrong.
QB D. Webb intrigues me more and more. At first, I was like this kid is a total project and his big arm doesn't fit this offense. However, with a 59mph fastball and a good deep ball, with some coaching maybe he learns how to use the quick short pass effectively and then BAM with a deeper pass. He is mature and sounds like a leader ready for the NFL lockeroom so I'm quite intrigued to see how he shows in camp. My guess is he sits as the #3 QB, inactive, all year unless (God forbid) an injury hits.
RB Gellman is intriguing as well, sort of reminds me of Perkins I guess. He comes from a solid college team and is more NFL ready than most backs. If he had 4.50 speed he'd have gone in the 2nd round I'm sure. He'll be steady and a "do it all" type: pass block, receive and run inside or out with that vision of his.
DE Moss likely needs some technique work and such but he'll make the 53 man roster cause he has upside. Vernon, JPP, Taylor and Okware are in my mind locks so the 5th DE must play specials and Moss seems to be able to. It could spell the end for veterans Odi & Wynn but we'll see....maybe Odi steps up as a solid interior pass rusher and you can't give up on pass rushers.
OT Bisnotway is intriguing too: a four year LT starter at a good program. He likely needs a year in the weight room but he may challenge for RT if B. Hart doesn't progress as expected. I like him for depth this year and he makes the 53 man roster.
As for UDFA's, Bunker and Wheeler have potential. We will see about the rest.
I'm just feeling it about this year's draft and honestly I feel our last 3 drafts were strong. Yes, its way early for evaluating but i like the fact we took mostly "NFL ready" type guys.
