In a heated interview with Anita Marks just now.
So despite the hysteria about being photographed with Johnny Manziel, Odell has been working with Jamal Liggins, a noted speed trainer based on the west coast, since April. Manziel is one of his clients. So is Marshawn Lynch, Ryan Clady, Reggie Bush, among others.

Anita Marks was just trying to get her hot takes out there condemning him for not being there and hanging out for Manziel, team chemistry and such, and Stapleton had no interest in playing along, complained about it all being feed for sports media.
Pretty dumb comment. Did you bother to read the articles? He trains each athlete differently depending on their goals and position.

Ryan Clady is slow as hell.

It's called sarcasm. Ryan Clady is an offensive lineman, therefore he is not fast relative to other players at other positions. Ha.
I do have to disagree that all "his meltdown vs. the Panthers showed was the guy is a competitor". I think it also showed great immaturity and inability to keep his control at times, something that can be exploited by the competition if not improved upon. Thankfully I think he has already displayed some improvement with that.
IMO the bottom line is he shouldn't be viewed as some sort of team cancer nor simply excused of all poor behaviour. He is an extremely talented player we as fans should be happy to have on our team, yet he is human with flaws.
Dan is spot on. As usual.

"anti" Beckham stuff on BBI is maybe my least favorite aspect of BBI... maybe ever. Guy has been HOF level good, the narrative about his off-field stuff falls apart once a logical human being ya know... looks at the production. His meltdown vs. the Panthers was ugly but all it showed was the guy is a competitor. There surely are aspects to the team/organization worth critiquing but Beckham and how he parties or even how he trains? Ridiculous.

I agree with the general sentiment but when taking exception to the criticisms you say of his Panther meltdown that "all it showed was the guy is a competitor" it becomes the other side of the same coin.
Odell doesn't deserve a lot of criticism he gets here but he shouldn't be excused of any poor behaviour either.
I 100% agree. It's the most irritating/annoying thing I've ever seen on BBI. This, along with the way supposed Giants fans harass Geoff Schwartz on Twitter, makes me think less of our fanbase. (I recognize there are bad apples in every bunch, but c'mon guys, be adults.)

Then I'm clearly the dummy on this one:)
Agreed.
My concern with Beckham is his mental approach to the game, not his physical preparation. The Josh Norman/Carolina meltdown, the weird shirtless warmup before the Green Bay game and his subsequent shaky performance all suggest a man who too often is ruled by his emotions and lacks self-awareness. He's going to need that self-awareness to take his game to the next level, no matter how quick his reflexes or how dextrous his hands.
Separately: I don't think Beckham wanting to live like a celebrity and be tabloid fodder is a problem. It's New York. Some guys can do it and keep their shit together on the field. Joe Namath did it. Reggie Jackson did it. LT did it. Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth... But what those guys did was win. Namath had the guarantee. Reggie was Mr. October. Beckham needs to get to the playoffs again and shine there. If he is holding up the Lombardi trophy after the Super Bowl in February, we'll all be hoping he takes OTAs off in 2018, too.
I'll attach a link if anyone wants to listen in.

This is exactly how I feel. I find OBJ difficult to like. He is a supremely talented player that we are lucky to have. I don't think he is a cancer or a distraction. However, his antics on and off the field reflect a lack of maturity that sometimes rub me the wrong way.

gets a little ridiculous but nothing wrong with those that simple say they believe he should be here but leave it as not a big deal that he isn't.

This is reasonable. I don't think anyone could tell you you're in the wrong for feeling this way. People in different age groups shouldn't really be expected to identify with a 24 year old. I got sick of teenager antics in my mid 20s.

I'm not sure where you got that from.
Yup, ad hominem arguments are the hallmark of maturity.
There are also a lot of hypocrites that would condemn him if he was an Eagle or Cowboy.
Much ado about nothing..
Wake me up if he doesnt show up for mandatory camp.. then you have a story..
The guys getting ready for the season on his own that's fine.
It might be annoying, it might make you not like him, and if he was a Cowboy it would make you hate him.
But get the fuck over it. If LT, Bavaro, Tiki or Manning were Cowboys you'd hate them too.
It's a kids game where men get paid millions to run around. Getting bent out of shape over how a guys spends his free time is as weird as wearing another man's Jersey with his name on it or waiting in line for autographs with a bunch of 10 year olds.
Caring about what the guy does off the field is lame.
He's made one critical mistake. Retaliating against Norman was stupid and hurt the team. He paid his dues and it's over. It's been over.
I hope it's less fun for the fans who nitpick when he scores. Just like I hope it made 2007 less fun for the fans that pants crapped about Burress and Strahan. You don't deserve how much fun it was for me.

Haha, that last part made me laugh out loud and couldn't be more true.

This is 100% my take on it as well. He's got plenty of chemistry with Eli and the O, let the new and young guys have the reps this week. He'll be there when he the bell rings, no doubt in my mind.
Plus, I'm glad to see he was actually working out hard with a trainer this week while signing that big Nike deal. It would be pretty easy for anyone to just kick back, put their feet up and smile for the rest of the off season after inking a contract that big. Instead, even though he wasn't in NJ, he was working hard. To me, that's an encouraging sign he's driven to get even better and not resting on his laurels.

Dude is the best player on the team and is a hard worker. Fans are really getting their panties in a bunch on this. Dude is working out with a top trainer and a hall of fame player to get better.. oh how terrible..

OK - I'll push back...I appreciate he's working hard in LA with a speed trainer. I've never questioned the guy's work ethic. Still, you have three days in May when pretty much the whole team is together with all the new guys showing up. You can't show up for three days and practice with team and then go back and work with your guy for the rest of of-season? Your one of team's best players and it sends the right message. That's all.
It's a little thing like that which make some players good team leaders. It doesn't deserve all of this ridiculous attention but sometimes it's these little things that go a long way...

Not really, some of us understand how much leverage teams have over players on their rookie deals. When Desean Jackson held out, even though I don't like the guy, I had no problem with it. The real hypocrites are the ones that conveniently forget how Strahan missed mandatory camp to hold out. People here just like to bitch.

The problem with all this hoopla is the players KNOW how hard he works. They dont question it.. The OTA isnt mandatory.. It isnt required.. its not contractual.. If he feels its better for him to get with his specific guy and a Hall of Fame Wide receiver before the actual camps. start..
Since he has had one of the best first three seasons ever in the history of football..Im cool with it..
Wake me up when he doesnt show up to training camp.. THAT will be news...
