NFT: Sunday Matinee Baseball: A's vs Yankees 1:05

superspynyg : 5/28/2017 10:56 am
Rubber match game. Can't lose 2 of 3 to the A's. Bats need to wake up.

Triggs (5-3, 2.77era) vs Pineda (5-2 3.35era).

Torreyes

In for Headley 2 days in a row. I like the direction this team is going in. If your not producing someone else will be given the chance. I'm sure this is just a chance for Headley to get a breather. I will be shocked if he's not in the lineup tomorrow.
Seems

Out there. Jesus.
Judge becoming such a smart hitter
Kyle in NY : 5/28/2017 2:11 pm : link
Not to pick on Castro who's been good but it's such a contrast there watching each AB. Judge lays off those sliders to get to a fastball count and takes advantage
All around
Jay in Toronto : 5/28/2017 2:14 pm : link
to me he is channeling Jeter. Just goes about his business with class, determination and humility.
Castro really swings at some

dog shit out there.
How long Pineda goes is key
dpinzow : 5/28/2017 2:53 pm : link
Yanks likely won't have Clippard since he pitched 2 days in a row. Betances is available, but he had to get 5 outs yesterday
Carter
MookGiants : 5/28/2017 2:58 pm : link
is awful. Not a good throw by any means but still could have been caught
Oh dear
dpinzow : 5/28/2017 2:59 pm : link
Pineda thought about getting the out at 3rd and threw wildly to 1st. Yanks lead is now 6-3
Very timely double play
dpinzow : 5/28/2017 3:00 pm : link
Soft lineout to 2nd and throw to 1st where Khris Davis is caught off the bag. Pineda gets through 6
Tired of them giving up runs to shitbag lineups
Greg from LI : 5/28/2017 3:01 pm : link
First the Rays, now the A's. Very frustrating.
Tying run to the plate just like that

Dog shit from Green.
Could really use Green
mfsd : 5/28/2017 3:18 pm : link
and the rest of our B level relievers to step up and finish this game for us

They just announced Mike Trout left today's Angels game

I didn't say that
Greg from LI : 5/28/2017 3:57 pm : link
But 5 runs to the worthless A's and no name clowns like Ryon Healy? That shouldn't happen.9
Judge starting to hit pitches where they are pitched
dpinzow : 5/28/2017 3:59 pm : link
He will be unstoppable if he does that
Orioles and Red Sox both losing right now
mfsd : 5/28/2017 4:03 pm : link
would be nice to finish this one and see those scores hold
The Mariners have 3 runs.....on 14 hits

mfsd : 5/28/2017 4:14 pm : link
Wonder if Shreve can hold a 4 run lead without Betances's help?

One out to go, finish this kid!
Ballgame over Yankees win
dpinzow : 5/28/2017 4:22 pm : link
Warren gets a 4 out save. Judge with the big blow, his first career grand slam.

Now it gets difficult. 13 straight games inside the division, starting at Baltimore (3) and Toronto (4), then home for Boston and Baltimore (3 each)
Judge
manh george : 5/28/2017 4:23 pm : link
Yeah, teams were getting him out for a brief while with slow stuff low and away. If he can adapt to that, the league is doomed.

What a remarkable talent. And, he's living proof as to how difficult it is to predict:
--When an athlete will rise to a new plateau; and
--Where the peak is likely to be.

Pro athletes rarely improve in a straight line. They move from plateau to plateau, with dips in between as opponent figure out their weaknesses. Judge has been a terrific example of that, and the holes in his swing may be incredibly small for such a large human.
Warren deserves a team hero too
dpinzow : 5/28/2017 4:25 pm : link
he allowed Girardi to have Betances available at the start of this difficult 2 week stretch coming up
A's are really terribe on D
RasputinPrime : 5/28/2017 4:32 pm : link
glad we took advantage today.

11 games over. 500, this team just continues to roll.
we're not quite at the 1/3 mark yet but
Del Shofner : 5/29/2017 9:59 am : link
it's now a fair-size sample of the season - 3 games up in first place on Memorial Day ... I think we all would have signed up for that.

If we are still in roughly the same position after the next tough 14 days; my growing enjoyment of watching this rebuilding process is going to go up another level.

Unlike earlier stretches where we could depend on one of our strengths to carry injuries and other phases of the game, I think the next 14 days require us doing well in all four phases: fielding, hitting, starting and relief pitching
Red Sox and O's lost yesterday, as well.

Big game today
bigbluehoya : 5/29/2017 10:54 am : link
To set the tone for the divisional road trip.

Start off with a W against the O's best SP and go from there.

In the short term, I think Headley really needs to be planted firmly on the bench. I'm fine with Torreyes starting, but I'd love to see Wade come up for a stretch. He fits the bill for a super-utility left handed bat. IMO, he's also a guy who could be a nice trade deadline chip if they decide to be buyers. He won't bring back a big fish on his own, but could have decent value in a package if he flashes a little bit with the big club

hey Bill - yes, especially on the road. But it's nice that Ortiz isn't around any more - I think we match up a lot better with the Bosox this year than in the recent past.

Absolutely. And we already own series wins over Boston and Baltimore.
