PFT: Eli thinks Odell is handling things well

“Everybody’s got to kind of grow with the times, and things have changed,” Manning said, via Justin Tasch of the New York Daily News. “The NFL’s changed, social media, all that’s changed since I’ve been a New York Giant. So you have to understand the different personalities, the different mindsets of people and how to adjust and handle that.”

Quote:
“Well, luckily we haven’t had any media, so we haven’t been asked about it. So this is the first time,” Manning said. “So no, you can’t make it a distraction. People are gonna ask about him. He’s an interesting guy and they want to know what’s going on.”

Quote:
And he’s also not worried about the over-arching questions about Beckham’s maturity as he prepares for his first big contract negotiation.

“It’s all new to a lot of guys,” Manning said. “I was in the same position years ago and had to go through it, had to mature and realize things and just understand how to handle everything that’s kind of thrown at you. I think (Beckham’s) doing a good job doing that.”

Florio must be heartbroken that OBJ showed up for the mandatory camp.

Eli's great.
Save for the Norman meltdown or even the boat incident,

as always , 1000% agree
no excuses
annexOPR : 6/14/2017 1:24 pm : link
but the refs were equally responsible for that Norman "meltdown"

if you've every played, rewatch that game closely. there is only so many times a player can hit/bump/taunt someone every play before eventually you're going to fight back

odell's ultimate response was dangerous/warranted a suspension, but neither of them shouldve ever gotten to that point
Eli is much too classy

to throw a teammate under the bus, besides being too smart (ala derek jeter) to say what he really thinks.

I wouldn't really describe it as an "incident". An "incident" is a guy getting involved in a bar fight or getting a dwi. I'd say the boat thing was just bad optics.

Wrong again. Eli has criticized Odell through the media in the past.

Not throwing teammates under the bus has nothing to do with him being classy. It's against his own image that he's put so much work into building/protecting.

He learned from the Shockey/Burress days how publicly saying anything about wanting guys to work out with him/the team that weren't or wanting them to quiet their own images down just blows back on him, making him look like an ineffective leader. He's not on that any attention = good plan others are.

Minorly and he caught blowback from it he wanted no part of. He's not going back there again.

The Mannings aren't dumb. They're more calculated about the facade they put up and protect than probably anyone that has ever been in football.
Oh,

Eli told you that? My bad, I didn't realize you had direct access into Eli's throught process.
Pardon me for actually realizing how these guys work.

You're welcome to stay in your little bubble where it seems all the players you're a fan of are all genuinely amazing, compassionate human beings that would never lie or heavily calculate the image they put forth.

Anyone who doesn't think the Manning family is very savy

and image-conscious is fooling themselves. It's not a bad thing whatsoever, so there's nothing to feel defensive about, but see the forest for the trees. It takes a strategic effort effort to live and work in NYC and be a high profile person for 13 years and never have a single slip make the dirtsheets.

Will probably take Eli to task tomorrow and scream that he is babying Beckham and should have called him out to the press. That would surely Help Beckham mature.

Wrong again. Eli has criticized Odell through the media in the past.

Criticism isn't "throwing someone under the bus" and Odell opens himself up to "criticism all the time>

So you are saying he's not "classy" and just cultivating his own "image" ala Beckham. I just don't see it that way, I prefer to think that some of these guys have some sort of class and not just acting in their own interests.
