it allows him to rest and rehab properly without the stress of pitching in Queens. It also gets the Mets a chance to remove one of their worse starters this season out of the rotation without the embarrassment

Good post. I don't think Harvey is a lost cause yet by any means, but he wasn't helping the team that way he was pitching. A chance for him to rest, work on his mechanics and maybe come back better could be a good thing for us.

We really need to cross our fingers that the rest of the starters stay healthy. DeGrom/Matz/Gsellmen/Lugo/Wheeler isn't an elite rotation like we were hoping but it still has the potential to be pretty good and get us back into the race.
We absolutely need Degrom
spike : 6/15/2017 4:28 pm : link
to be vintage Degrom or our season is really toast.
IS TDA injured?
Vanzetti : 6/15/2017 4:47 pm : link
He is hitting .400 against LHP. Does not seem like a good spot to rest him.
Walker will hurt because he has been playing well
Vanzetti : 6/15/2017 4:52 pm : link
The blessing might be that the injury will make Sandy think twice about signing him longterm. I think Sandy really wants to sign him as a comp for losing Murphy.

Might also make Walker amenable to a two-year deal. Given that he will be 32 and will have missed significant time each of the last two seasons, teams will be reluctant to give him a long deal.

Walker has been much more clutch in his second season in NY. Definitely would not mind him on a two-year deal, especially since Cecchini is looking more and more like a bust

it seems like Rivera and TDa are alternating games.

Evan Engrom is pitching the first pitch at Citifield tonight.

This series definitely has a little juice... didn't think there was any chance it would as recently as a few weeks ago.

Actually a little pumped for this. Hopefully the Mets don't kill my buzz.

that I thought the Mets should deal Harvey right then and there. He thought I was crazy.

I'm only right about such things very occasionally. Damn, the guy is a fucking train wreck.

At this point he might be a guy they consider non tender this offseason

arcarsenal : 6/15/2017 7:15 pm : link
Can we NOT give up a HR in the first inning at some point?
Cespedes and Bruce w back to back

TJ is a better 3rd baseman

Welp, that's the end of Lagares for a long time.

So much for getting healthy. Never happens with this team.
Wow unreal

I get that the Lagares injury probably happens no matter what but how can this org not take a serious look at the trainers and methodology being used on these players?

The fact that this entire fucking team is getting hurt year in and year out cannot possibly be a coincidence at this point. I honestly think there's a problem with this training staff and have said it many times. I wish they'd take a more serious look at this and overhaul the entire thing. It sure as hell can't get any fucking worse.
Kudos to Montero

The Giants proved that a training staff can have a profound impact on injuries. It is no coincidence that the Giants led the league two years in a row, even setting a new NFL record for starters games lost to injury, with Coughlin's staff and then they are among the healthiest in football with McAdoo's new staff.
Was at the game tonight
Metnut : 6/15/2017 10:51 pm : link
rough. Completely misjudged the pitching matchup. Gio was really good and Gsellmen wasn't good. Lagares injury sucks.

Oh well. Let's steal it tomorrow vs Scherzer and have some fun this weekend. Can we please bring Rosario up? Reyes is sooooooo bad and Reynolds is worse.
When is Nimmo coming up?
spike : 6/15/2017 10:52 pm : link
Or will it be Pill to replace Harvey?

Or will it be both since all these guys are going on the DL simultaneously?

Yup, the Giants are exactly why I am feeling very strongly that this is a training staff issue. The Mets are ravaged by injuries every fucking year. I can't even remember the last season that it felt like barely anyone got hurt. It's ridiculous.

He's the only AAA OFer on the 40-man.
unfortunately, Nimmo and Cecchini ae looking like busts
Vanzetti : 6/16/2017 6:35 pm : link
Nimmo is not really even a prospect any more and Cecc is fringe at best
Cecchini has 7 career ABs
Eric on Li : 6/16/2017 6:51 pm : link
he still has much more of a chance to do something than Nimmo.

Hopefully when Cabrera returns this week
spike : 6/19/2017 10:56 am : link
the dreadful Reyes gets a seat on the bench. Flores gets 2b and TJ plays 3rd every day from now until Walker returns.

Eric on Li : 6/19/2017 11:48 pm : link
he could be a nice piece for a team that could use a guy that makes good contact and is hard to strike out.

problem is, he is strictly 2nd base. But yeah, I 'd rather let go of Reyes and Cabrera
not a problem bc they don't have any 2B under contract next year
Eric on Li : 6/20/2017 12:07 am : link
Reyes and Walker on last years, Cabrera has an option that's probably a 50-50 proposition right now. 2 are obviously hurt right now and Reyes has been terrible. Not saying it's gonna happen, but the job is there for someone to win.
