Gallegos looked thoroughly unimpressive. A 93-94 mph fastball that looks VERY straight and a plus curve. Might be okay for a batter or two in the 6th or 7th, but he is out of his element putching a full inning.
They've been hanging in there without him having a lot of blowout games but this road trip and the tight games they're playing the last few nights has started to expose how much he's missed. Brutal loss.
I really feel like Gardner has to take charge there. I think he could have called him off and gotten there. Really annoying to be an out away and then lose on that
They should have won all 3 of these last games, with last night's being a worse punch to the nads than the night before. With the way the A's answered each inning, I had a bad feeling about the game...until there were 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th with nobody on, and even with this Gallegos guy looking decidedly less than inspiring, I was finally confident that he would get through the 8 & 9 hitters on the worst lineup in the AL. I didn't bother to watch a replay, but that ball seemed to hang up for a long time; I wasn't expecting it to drop in.
These stretches are always there in a 163-game season. Just too bad that I had to be at work at 7:30 this morning after having stayed up to watch that shitshow.
Yet another loser. How many more can they trot out there to lose one-run ball games?
Nothing wrong with having an opinion - but now, back it up - who would you have brought in instead of Gallegos?
Note - Green, Clippard, and Betances were already out of the game.
You and Fat Man are right (though his unnecessarily insulting final remark has become a sort of an annoying trademark here at BBI).
The pen was in fact depleted. Things are not so hot with Clippard under-performing, Bettances suddenly having to throw so many pitches, Warren looking shaky and injured right now, Green looking all too hitable, and Herrara and Gallegos showing very little.
Just shows how bad it has gotten in Chapman's absence.
He got running, it could be from lack of activity by resting too much. Henceforth if he was catching he might've been more limber and would not of strained

Yeah the pen has definitely been stretched lately - maybe we could have gone to Holder in that spot last night? He's been good.
Point being, I can't kill Girardi and Cashman for bringing some of these kids up and giving them the chance...sucks to see us lose a couple close ones with inexperienced relievers out there, welcome to the big leagues
I have absolutely no problem with how Girardi managed this game.
Agreed, Kyle. A most unusual, all arms swing...although he transfers his weight to that front foot, it seems to me.
Gio Gallegos. Never seen him pitch I dont think.
One more out baby.
Two out in the ninth and back to back hits allowed to a guy hitting .215 and a guy hitting .224.

Betances did come in. And I think he shouldve left Clippard in.
...how to win consistently on the road.
Will take some time.

16-17 on the road, they have been a bad road team for the last few years
Yup both got hurt

Again with this shit? The closer is hurt and you already used the set-up and acting closer. Who did you expect them to trot out there?
Fucking idiot.
...a little perspective.
Bad road losses on the west coast, but this team has so much promise to it and is performing well above pre-season predictions.
Patience, patience, patience.
This is a fun time to be a Yankees fan!

But resting him is another Joey Binders error....

Tough loss; hope this young team can bounce back emotionally.
also Hicks may be headed to DL...Yanks have called up Mason Williams
Seriously! Just dump Williams from the 40 man roster and replace him with Fowler....it's not rocket science.
