Longtime Giants Coach Denny Marcin In For Fight of his Life

With the oxygen tank attached by 40-foot tube always by his side, with the electric scooter almost always nestled under his legs, with the medical diagnosis slowly robbing his lungs of their ability to function, Marcin is facing a foe physicians' statistics say he cannot beat.

Still, in the two years since being diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable disease in which the lungs harden and patients become increasingly short of breath, Marcin has been wrapped in a level of support to take his breath away.

but it's nice to hear how much love and support he's getting.
Lost my dad to this last year.

He was a USMC Viet Nam combat vet who survived Lymphoma, the tet offensive, many arterial stents, an aortic valve replacement and lots of other fun things. Diagnosed with this in January of 2016 and we lost him three months later. It's a terrible disease and was really hard to watch him slowly choke to death. I was by his side when he took his last breath and it still breaks my heart to recollect.

Good luck Coach Marcin.

wrenching and tragic and sad, feel for you guys
It is a horrid disease, and I had a friend who died of it.
There are market approved "treatments", but the best they do by and large is slow the progression. Let's hope that others in the clinic will prove
more effective.
