but Miami is supposedly gonna make a run at Gordon Hayward, so I can't imagine they'd pull the trigger on this on draft night. Melo is gonna be Plan B or C for a few teams, so it'll likely take some time.

Couldn't they get both guys if Bosh retires? Melo can play PF if Whiteside is backing him up
I'm hesitant
MookGiants : 6/18/2017 9:10 pm : link
on Monk. I'm not sure he's even a perfect PG for the triangle, and I also believe by the time the knicks have any shot of being a really good team Phil will be gone and the triangle won't be around.

For Melo- this is a no brainer for the Knicks. Add Monk or DSJ and Kennard or Mitchell. Starting 5 for Knicks all of a sudden has a to. Of energy and youth to get excited about. Embrace the tank, maybe try to trade Lee for another pick, get a topv5 next year. I'm pretty much settled on just seeing both Rose and Melo back in a Knicks uni though.

Heat get: Carmelo Anthony

Knicks get: Justise Winslow, Tyler Johnson, Josh Richardson, Wayne Ellington, Josh McRoberts and the No. 14 pick NBA trade ideas on ESPN - ( New Window )

I do that trade in a second if I'm the Knicks, but I doubt Miami would give all of that up for Melo.
Why do people think NYK will get a fraction of this haul???

Because the heat would only give a fraction of that haul.

Absolutely. If we could get 14 and Winslow for him I would drive him to the airport myself.
Justise Winslow is fucking garbage

Fultz shot
Metnut : 6/19/2017 10:02 am : link
below 65% from the free throw line last year. Is that a legit long term concern? It would terrify me to draft a point guard who can't shoot FTs.
Sadly, we're a terrible team with Melo, and even a worse one w/o him.
yatqb : 6/19/2017 10:29 am : link
I can't see any team giving up much for him...perhaps a pick in the 20s and a few 2s?
so?
feelflows : 6/19/2017 10:43 am : link
what's the consensus?

do the C's keep #3? Trade it as part of a bigger deal?

if they keep it, I"m assuming they are taking Jackson. I know they were high on him (wasn't sure if it was smoke and mirrors).

Fultz, Embiid, Ben Simmons, Saric. That's a sick, extremely young starting lineup.

Unfortunately, given the 76'ers' luck you should probably emphasize the word sick.
There is a report out that the Celtics and Suns are talking
Bill L : 6/19/2017 5:03 pm : link
and if Josh Jackson is sitting at #3, then the Celtics might move down again and collect another pick or two. Seems like they're using the Little Bill approach. I'm not sure I like it because you need more a transcendent player as opposed to a bunch of really good guys, but maybe they think that there is minimal difference between a ton of players at the top?

Unless they love Tatum per reports, and are just cashing in again and again as the player they covet will still go to them.
The thing to keep in mind is that
Section331 : 6/20/2017 8:32 am : link
while Fultz is the consensus #1 pick, it is not unanimous. There are also concerns about his knees, which is why the 76ers reportedly asked for medicals on him twice.

If Ainge likes Tatum more than Fultz, than it is smart for him to get a premium pick to get the guy you like anyway, I just wonder if he could have gotten a better offer if he waited.

I like Tatum for this team as well, but.. with SO many picks upcoming (including the Nets pick which will be top 3), why are the Celtics concerned with QUANTITY not QUALITY?

Unless they REALLY think Tatum/Jackson are as good/better than Fultz?

I feel like it's more important, in this stage, to compile the best players, not the MOST players.

Then again, I don't fully understand all of this regarding salary cap and acquiring star players.
