Good attempt.

Not much to argue against. However, I feel that Wheeler will make the team. Where does that extra spot come from? Well, I hope Webb shows enough as to win that backup QB spot saving a roster spot. I also don't know about Roger Lewis right now either but I think the numbers are right at WR.
I doubt we keep 7 lbers......i sat 5 at most

Another corner (6) and another safty (5) would make more sense.
They are not keeping 7 Linebackers.

More like 9 O-line, Wheeler will not make it to the Practice Squad.
3TEs Engram Ellison Adams. Lacosse will get hurt again when the hitting starts.
FB will be addressed this year. Smith. Mac will not limit the playbook again and have a plan B if Plan A offense doesn't succeed.
i doubt they keep seven linebackers.

Not when they'll be in sub-packages more often than not.
More cb's
ChicagoMarty : 6/18/2017 9:59 am : link
Less lbs

Rarely do we have more than 2 lbs on the field at any one time.

Frequently do we have 3 or more cbs on the field.

I would go with 6 cbs and 5 lbs.

Munson will be my long shot lb pick since he can bring some pass rush and he can be a ST beast. Sorry Mark your time to go has come

Would prefer Duke to Mykele as a Safety. Pinkins can play S LB and now apparently can fill in at cb

Agree that JR will look for a vet cb

The Giants need to keep 9 offensive linemen

Chad Wheeler will not make it to the practice squad and he is already the second string LT.
The 7th LB makes no sense
BillT : 6/18/2017 10:15 am : link
Compared to either a 9th OL or a 6th DE. That's the real choice. Wheeler or Wynn. Very tough choice.
Rojas (k) is 6'3" 232.

My thought on 7 LBs...
Dan Duggan : 6/18/2017 11:04 am : link
Is that's how many they kept last season and those guys have value as core special teamers. I could be convinced to keep an extra DB (Berhe/Ihenacho) over the seventh LB. Don't see them keeping six CBs considering they're struggling to find a quality fourth. I'm not buying the concern over getting Wheeler to the practice squad. They only gave him $20K guaranteed which isn't top dollar for a UDFA.
Agree with above. Only glaring disagreement
Jimmy Googs : 6/18/2017 11:08 am : link
is the 7 linebackers. Especially since there are some non-talented ones he has making the 53...

Fair enough Dan (and thanks for the reply). You're right about the 6th CB but you're still cutting Wynn, who I think they really value, for the 7th LB. And I'm not sure they had 7 LB on the original 53 but I'll take your word for it for now. And the problem isn't getting Wheeler to the PS, that's a given, it's keeping him there.

Good call on the 7 LBs last year. However, I think they were "holding" a spot for Goodson. Kennard, Goodson, Castillas, Robinson, and Herzlich seem in. Then you have Thomas, Grant. Skinner and Munson. Don't see Thomas and Skinner, ST or not, but that's me. Something has got to give with the addition of 3rd QB and what looks to be a 4th TE. 7th LB over an 9th OL or a 6th DE? What's the "best 53".
No sense in arguing too much on this since

Injuries have a major impact on who is kept.

Wheeler has a lot to prove before he is making the 53.
There are reasons he wasn't drafted.
Everybody seems to get amnesia....
njm : 6/18/2017 1:56 pm : link
about Lacosse's blocking in prior preseason games. Not good enough to slot him at FB. I think they might keep 1 FB on the roster.

good effort Dan, but I agree that it's unlikely they keep seven LBs.
I think they keep nine OL if Wheeler satisfies
Milton : 6/18/2017 3:19 pm : link
He was their highest priority undrafted free agent. Probably at the expense of either King or Lewis.

Ultimately camp injuries will change the landscape and make these projections irrelevant.
My guess is at

worst Dan has 45 right.

7 LBs is too many. (Okwara was a LB in college and looked good dropping into the zone coverage in one of the games I saw last year.)
8 OL is too few
5 CBs seems right

They may go with 5 WR because Engram can double as TE/WR and they will be able to stash Rudolph or Powe on the PS. So 4 TE could be right.

I think a FB is a strong possibility since McAdoo sort of bemoaned not having one last year; so question is 3 RB and 1 FB? Can one of the FBs line up as a TE?
