6 game slide.
Let's end this and win the next 4 series.
tied for the division lead assuming the sox hang on
Sanchez back healthy it seems
Chapman looked great and is back
No CC for a month
Hicks should be back Tuesday 100% let's hope
Bird looks like a Long ways away, Austin needs to get the call
No updates on Ellsbury
I'm sure a few roster moves are coming. Like Mason Back to aaa
Oh and the kids are all playing amazing at every level of the farm so there's that.
I wanna see Hicks at 100% Tuesday.
We need a bounce back performance from Monty as well.
This is baseball. They still have four guys in the lineup hitting over .300 and and three more hitting .260 or better. Who would have thought going into that trip they would lose six in a row. My only gripe is why does Girardi bat Headley and Carter back to back. Neither of them hit very much at all in the clutch. Other then that I think they will bounce back. They have too much offense to sink into the abyss.
My biggest concern at this point is the starting pitching. With Chapman back it helps to reset the bullpen order and you have to wonder what the record would look like if he hadn't been on the shelf for that past month. It didn't have an impact at first but here of late it sure did.
Maybe they had a a sense of all they had to do was step on the field and we wiil win most of these games. I honestly believe it will come down to the starting pitching. Now that the bullpen is back in order they need to get back on the beam and get it to the back end of the bullpen. The offense is still there.
Obviously the loss of Chapman was really felt this week, with three leads lost in the 8th inning. I wish Girardi had been able to find more ways to use Betances. I believe he only threw 11 innings in the 5 weeks Chapman was out. But it is what it is
Only thing that worries me is Tanaka. We got by with him pitching terribly up until this point. But it's hard to see any sustained success moving forward without him at least becoming decent again. The high strikeout totals are nice to see, but the amount of HR allowed is just baffling. If he's healthy, I truly don't know what the answer is.
How about we get a win and break the shnide before we go 5-1? We just have to stop the bleeding and get a W. we should be ok. When we were hot we were getting great SP. Since Monday it has been mediocre at best, and when we had a chance to win the BP blew it. with Chappy back that should at least settle the 8th and 9th. We should be fine. It was never going to be easy to win the division. Once we piece a win or 2 together this West Coast trip will be a distant memory.
that's a question for Cashman. Girardi plays who they give him. And Austin is not quite Lou Gehrig, so lets not make him out to be a savior.
Bird is very disconcerting. As Jay in Toronto said, you have to wonder if Bird is the new Nick Johnson. This is lining up to be a second wasted year in a row.
Plus, Hicks and Sanchez being dinged a little probably limited the offense.
Chapman's return should help, obviously. But the Yanks will have to declare who they're going to be before long - meaning if they want to seriously contend, they likely need to look for a trade for a top end short reliever and/or starter.
Using last year as an example, the prospect cost could be extreme. I vote to stand pat and let the rebuild continue. Yeah, the Bird situation sucks...Tanaka has been an enigma...Chris Carter continuing to get meaningful playing time is just not good...but a lot more is going right than going wrong so far.
To use a hockey analogy - let's not do what the 94 Rangers did - sacrifice a chance at multiple championships in order to try and guarantee winning one.
Yes, I've done it, actually got tickets for Saturdays game via stubhub myself. The tickets I got are "electronic only", which means they'll just scan the e-ticket off your smartphone
In the past, I've gotten tix of stubhub that were printable, not sure if they've gone away with that, but the electronic version is easy enough too
What puzzles me is his use or non use of his fast ball. It appears he is capable of locating it. He gets hurt more on his split. Teams appear to be looking for it and when they get it and it is a less then effective pitch they hammer it. I think he needs to throw the fastball more. They expect the split because he throws it so much.
Yes. I did this last Wednesday for the angels game. No issues. You can screen shot and text the tickets to other people in your group if you need to split them up
They didn't play well, and they didn't get many bounces going their way. It would be silly to derive any long-term conclusions about the Yankees over this one stretch of increasingly injury-depleted games. It's just aggravating though.
We need a bounce back performance from Monty as well.

asked Girardi why Austin is still in Scranton and he continues to play Carter ? I just don't understand it .If Austin is healthy get him up here !!!

Cashman was asked the question by Kay on his show. He said that Carter is the best option we have right now , and the we continue to evaluate. Looking outside the organization might also be a possibility.
I have a question. What about Mike Ford? Whats his upside( for those who know the minor system Dunedin,Greg etc.
Teams already know what Austin is- they saw him a lot last year. Fowler is easier- he has no clear route to playing time. He is a CF/LF. The Yanks have Gardner, Ellsbury and Hicks in front of him- even with Ellsbury on the DL, too many players in front of him.
Fowler could also work on taking some walks or laying of near-strikes. Needs to improve that OBP.
GTFO. Even our position players need TJ surgery now? What a kick in the balls.

Nobody is making him out to be a savior, fans are sick and tired of carter striking out 12 times a series and want a change it's not rocket science since Austin is doing well in the minors

I think that people are making Austin out to be more than he is. One of Austin's biggest issues as he rose through the system was a lack of a defensive position.
He was drafted as a C, moved to 3B, moved to the OF, moved to 1B and then to DH. The big issue is that he does not play any defensive position in the field well enough to be a defensive regular.
It doesn't do much to improve the team if Austin hits somewhat better than Carter- only to be worse defensively and cost the team runs in the field.
