NEW BRUNSWICK -- The goal of Jonathan Casillas' annual 'Forward Progress' camp is for kids in his hometown to keep moving forward and growing in all areas of their lives.

The linebacker believes the Giants are in position to do the same this fall after experiencing a taste of success with last year's wild card playoff berth.

"It's all forward this year. It's all set up for us," Casillas told NJ Advance Media on Saturday during his fourth camp at New Brunswick Middle School. "I think (general manager) Jerry Reese did a good job in free agency, and also the draft. And now, shoot, it's all up to us now..."

I'm a big Casillas fan.

Hardly a superstar but steady..Appears quite comfy in our D..
before suffering some injuries , I felt Casillas attempted

to take on a "QB of the defense" role last year ? He always seemed to be the guy to congratulate or coach a player after a play made or missed.

the griping about our linebackers has been institutionalized

and part of the fabric of truth as forums know truth.
How often have we heard about the neglect of the position..yet we won superbowls with Jeff Torberg and Chase Blackburn. Proving that you have to prioritize.
CAssillas might be limited but he's a lot better than Torberg or Blackburn.
And after him (before him?) we have really good players there. Kennard had his first real year and it's reasonable to expect a break out year. Ditto Robinson - only to a slightly lesser extent, but this guy is a player. Dotson in the middle can make the run defense scary.
Oliva and JPP are rated as the second best pass rushing combo but they might be first in run stopping and Harrison is the best period!
. Let's hope a successor to Hankins emerges and if he does Dotson may be the final piece.
I am excited to see OBJ wide left and shepard in the slot and at the same time Ephram wide right and Marshall in the slot (or any combo with that four) but I'm also excited to see this defense that's intact and ready for a lesson in Spags ADvanced class.
Grizz: Dotson? Do you mean Goodson?

Jeff Torberg? Wasn't he a catcher? I don't remember him as the MLB of a championship team unless you mean Major League Baseball team.
Torbor

My gripes about the LBs go back to the Coreys era (Widmer and Miller)
While the play of the current LB

crew has improved, they are still a group that is attacked by the opposition with TE's and RB's.....

They make plays here and there, but also miss quote a few too...

It would be nice if we could field one linebacker, that scared the opposition...

Don't worry, pal. The Giants will draft OLB Malik Jefferson in the 1st round next year. You heard it here first.
Athletic Tight End in Rd 1 this year

Reese is evolving, at least where the draft is concerned. First it was with offensive linemen, then tight ends, and next year it will be linebackers.
