An eight-week offseason program came to an end this past week with a three-day mandatory minicamp, providing the Giants with a final look at the players they’ve assembled on their roster. They have gone their separate ways until July 27, when the team reconvenes for training camp. Here are five Giants-sized observations gleaned from the springtime work... |
Usually DTs take a year or two to pan out but I don't think there's a more preferable open DT spot in the NFL. Whoever wins that job is going to have all the help necessary to succeed. Should be fun.
Also, re Webb. I doubt that he'll be ready for the #2 job coming out of camp. But, I assume that either of the current #2's get picked up by another team, certainly not both. So, if you keep Webb & Eli misses extended time (Oy Vey), at least early in the season, someone is a phone call away. As the season goes on, Webb might be capable or at least as good as the others. Maybe we only keep 2 QBs
hate on PFF, but Hankins wasn't even good last year. so overrated on this site he hasn't played great in 2 years.
Signs are pointing in that direction.
I can't recall this ... but when Eli was drafted, did we have 2 QBs when the season started? KC and Eli?
It all depends how things develop in camp.
Hard to say "...team was not prepared." as they were down 7 mid-way through the 3rd Quarter.
Injury (DRC), inexperience (Shep), poor performance (OBJ), lack of pass rush, lack of a running game, lack of depth, lack of quality OLinemen, and Aaron Rodgers beat the Giants that game. Not much they could have done about it.

I think Webb becomes the backup this season

How about Warner and Eli.

we won't be missing Hankins at all.

(Hankins) a fat body taking up space and not very athletic to get interior rush. We are moving to solve that gap with the current guys..
Bromley has shown nothing thus far....Thomas flashed in one game last year.....Bryant is a retread.....Giants are hoping against hope, that Tomlinson is the second coming of Cofield...
The selection of Davis Webb in the third round of the draft, for all intents and purposes, ensured there would be three quarterbacks on the roster: Eli Manning, either Geno Smith or Josh Johnson as the backup, and Davis as No. 3.
He may throw a good ball until the first time he is hit, by another team.....let's see what Webb can do in preseason games...best case scenario is, he does become the #2, and we only carry two qb's...otherwise we waste a roster spot, carrying 3 qb's....
The true revelations come when you face guys, that aren't your team mates, in preseason games...
