An eight-week offseason program came to an end this past week with a three-day mandatory minicamp, providing the Giants with a final look at the players they’ve assembled on their roster. They have gone their separate ways until July 27, when the team reconvenes for training camp.

Here are five Giants-sized observations gleaned from the springtime work...

Usually DTs take a year or two to pan out but I don't think there's a more preferable open DT spot in the NFL. Whoever wins that job is going to have all the help necessary to succeed. Should be fun.
Revelations huh?

How's the injury situation, K?
well that was heartening

I think Webb becomes the backup this season
Has anyone else noticed

that often when the backup QB situation is discussed writers refer to Smith as "experienced"? Frankly, based on what little I saw of him with the Jets that I want that experience!
At DT & Webb
Samiam : 6/19/2017 10:45 am : link
I think if you read between the lines, he's saying there'll be an upgrade at DT which I think is BS unless Tomlinson comes along way faster than expected. Last year, Snacks was double teamed all the time and that's not likely to change no matter who's next to him.

Also, re Webb. I doubt that he'll be ready for the #2 job coming out of camp. But, I assume that either of the current #2's get picked up by another team, certainly not both. So, if you keep Webb & Eli misses extended time (Oy Vey), at least early in the season, someone is a phone call away. As the season goes on, Webb might be capable or at least as good as the others. Maybe we only keep 2 QBs
oops

Had a crap coaching staff, crap locker room and crap WRs. Shouldn't draw conclusions based only on Jets experience

Signs are pointing in that direction.

I can't recall this ... but when Eli was drafted, did we have 2 QBs when the season started? KC and Eli?
There is a realistic chance Giants go with Webb as #2
ZogZerg : 6/19/2017 12:14 pm : link
and keep just 2 QBs. Gino and Josh will most likely not be picked up by any other NFL team. If there is an injury, they could always resign one of them.

It all depends how things develop in camp.
should be Webb #2

Geno / JJ aren't getting this team to the playoffs ... might as well get Webb reps
Never thought about how

Embarrassing that playoff game in Green Bay was for Mac. His team was not prepared. Guess the vacation is over now.

Hard to say "...team was not prepared." as they were down 7 mid-way through the 3rd Quarter.
Injury (DRC), inexperience (Shep), poor performance (OBJ), lack of pass rush, lack of a running game, lack of depth, lack of quality OLinemen, and Aaron Rodgers beat the Giants that game. Not much they could have done about it.
Not Prepared?
Samiam : 6/19/2017 2:10 pm : link
Are you serious? If the Giants WR catch some very catchable TD and 3rd down passes, they're up by 11 and maybe more. With this defense, stopping Rodgers is a whole different game. This is not prepared and there's nothing you can do it? Hold on to the f...ing ball when Eli puts it right where he needs to. That's what they could do about it.

(Hankins) a fat body taking up space and not very athletic to get interior rush. We are moving to solve that gap with the current guys..
Wishful thinking, more than fact....

The most competitive camp duel will be in the defensive-line trenches, with four players trying to squeeze their way into the starting right defensive tackle spot alongside Damon “Snacks’’ Harrison. There is Jay Bromley, Robert Thomas, Corbin Bryant and rookie Dalvin Tomlinson. A case can be made for each.

Bromley has shown nothing thus far....Thomas flashed in one game last year.....Bryant is a retread.....Giants are hoping against hope, that Tomlinson is the second coming of Cofield...

The selection of Davis Webb in the third round of the draft, for all intents and purposes, ensured there would be three quarterbacks on the roster: Eli Manning, either Geno Smith or Josh Johnson as the backup, and Davis as No. 3.

He may throw a good ball until the first time he is hit, by another team.....let's see what Webb can do in preseason games...best case scenario is, he does become the #2, and we only carry two qb's...otherwise we waste a roster spot, carrying 3 qb's....

The true revelations come when you face guys, that aren't your team mates, in preseason games...
