Mykelle Thompson #22 is now a Cornerback. He could end up becoming a better prospect at that position.
With his size and speed ratio at 6-0 194lb, 24 years old, he is a young veteran in a sense because, he has been with Spags for at least 2 years. Hopefully that translates on to the field.
It would be an excellent addition to the depth to the starters Jenkins Apple, & Dominic Cromartie. If he can play, that's a good set of Corners.
fun fact: Thompson was born in Naples, Italy.
and then he got injured.
You can say that about literally any corner. If he can play, it would be an excellent addition to the depth. But a player who has had little/no success and makes a position switch is guaranteed to be an Elite Mobster fave, so he can tell us all how he predicted it.
Not sure I have a lot of confidence in MT given his injury history, but it would be great if it works out. Which is all EM said.
But never mind that Elite Mobster #32 makes some really strange posts, and as noted above adopts faves that are utterly out of favor. Maybe this time his contrarian call will be proven right, and Mykele will excel.
In that case, Klaatu, I will rejoice with you and recant all of the "crap" I've sent your way. I was actually going to start a "Shout Out" thread honoring you. Why?
Because in a thread a few weeks ago, a similar one trying to divine the Final 53, I submitted a comment, part of which described Mykele as "BBI Legend", in part. A couple of heavyweights were quite skeptical, saying no one on BBI has been smitten with MT so as to become a BBI legend, in fact, quite the opposite.
But you had the integrity, courage of your convictions, and rectitude to set the record straight, noting your very supportive posts on behalf of MT. You didn't have to do that, but you did.
So, I applaud you for that.
Meanwhile, JonC's comment remains the reality for MT.
He is not being "groomed to step up at Cornerback". He is given an opportunity to earn a roster spot at a position that has no real depth after the top three players. He also must prove he can stay healthy, something he has not done yet and since CB is not as physically demanding a position as safety, it may better suit him in this regard.
In short, he faces an uphill battle but the competition is wide open for that 4th, 5th and 6th CB spot. One thing Thompson has in his favor is that he did play a lot of nickel/slot CB at Texas and the Giants don't really have anyone proven after DRC to play the slot.
The coaches have talked up Hunter as a guy who has improved but he's more of an outside guy.
Thompson could fill the Coty Sensabaugh (who they should have re-signed btw) role from last year: a good zone-cb who can line up in the slot, blitz on occasion, and contribute on special teams.
There are some guys who were picked up as free agents also who have not played because of injuries.
Questions have not been answered, therefore they cant make a proper evaluation.
We will see what happens.

In the NFL, usually if it takes you several years to make the proper evaluation (particularly with a CB drafted in the 5th round) then the questions have already been answered.
With that said, I'll certainly be rooting for Thompson.
You definitely went overboard with Jerry. However, you were also proven to be a lot more correct than your detractors when the Giants gave him a three year.
Don't you dare tarnish the name of a legend like that.
Keys to success are tightness in the hips. We really don't have any info about his change of direction skills. And his capacity for hard work. This includes film room work plus the ability to not mentally take plays off even when physically tired or winded. This was the key to Revis's greatness in his prime.
You may be right, but I thought he was a backup cb who moved into the starting position when the guy they signed wasn't getting it done.
Production was Hamilton's trademark in college, where he played safety. In 30 games, he was in on 271 tackles, forcing three fumbles, recovering five, breaking up 30 passes and intercepting six. The Giants took him with the 214th pick, hoping to make him a cornerback.
He quickly moved ahead of fourth-year pro Willie Beamon, then sprained his knee in the final exhibition game.
``I didn't think I'd be ready for Buffalo [the first game],'' he said.
But he was ready, playing on special teams. Hamilton was going to get a chance to return kickoffs against the Redskins on Sept. 15, but the knee gave way in practice two days before the game and he didn't play. But he returned a day later.

It was a long time ago, and I'm getting old. But I remember being surprised at how well he was playing cornerback because he was originally at safety.
Thompson may very well make the team as a special teamer. You know special teams? They matter too.
Sometimes I wonder how some of you muster the optimism to get out of bed in the morning.

Why would you assume we get out of bed?

Well put!
usually equate to a roster spot .
That was more like the post-fight presser between me and CHP.
But if it's hardcore you want, I can always cut your throat so we can all watch the sand run out.
I keed, coach! I keed!

and people still jump all over him.

But is it really a sane observation? He the same guy who started a thread calling Pinkins the next great player who was "disrupted the offense in practice"
He's the same guy who said Adams was an impact CB based on reports he read in practices.
He's the same guy who is projecting Biswatny as a monster because reports about his size.
I still stand by the assertion Elite Mobster is a hermit in Romania with broken English, and an internet connection in a basement in his Grandma's hovel.
