Just had some kitchen work done and now there is an inch of water in the dishwasher following a cycle. A new garbage disposal was installed and its possible the (lazy) contractors didn't pop out the plug properly and this is causing the backup so I will check that.
I also noticed the hose to the disposal feels like it has water in it now, is it possible that following a dishwasher cycle some of the residual water in the hose drained back into the dishwasher? If so how could I fix that? (note when i lift the hose a bit and see if gravity will take that water back into the dishwasher nothing happens?)
Anything else I can check for? Thanks in advance
Check the web for videos on all this. You can find a how to on just about anything on the web.
I would second that observation. I made the same mistake. Just attached the hose without popping out the plug.
BTW, the water in the drain line is to prevent sewer gas from leaking back in through the dishwasher, same as a j-trap.
Does the hose go to an air gap then to the garbage disposal or does it directly go into the garbage disposal?
Reminds me of a joke:
How do you turn your dishwasher into a lawnmower? Tell her to get off her ass and mow the lawn!
Does the hose go to an air gap then to the garbage disposal or does it directly go into the garbage disposal?
Yes it is higher but the actual run to the disposal is now shorter so there is more slack then there previously was. Not sure what you mean by an air gap but it looks to go straight to disposal
In my travels...if the plug has not been removed from the GD...there will be a lot more water Inside the dishwasher than an inch.
When the dishwasher goes into drain mode...can you see or hear the water flowing into the GD? You should...
What make is it? Brand new?
Hey now!
