as been complaining about this since Trout hurt himself. Concerned about Judge sliding head first. He has a point. Back in the day it was always feet first.
Tommy John surgery was the first thing I thought when I saw the replay. Very awkward looking, and he was writhing in pain - you just knew something was torn in there. Fuck FUCK FUCK!
They potentially have 5 excellent young OFs for three spots. Frazier is obviously closer to MLB than Rutherford and has a higher ceiling than Fowler, but I'd absolutely deal him in the right trade.
that Torres was being groomed for the 3B job later this year. Yankee coaches wanted him on the team out of spring training. Cashman has been asked numerous times if Torres would be up sometime this year and has never ruled it out (remember, he did rule out the possibility of Torres on the opening day roster even after Didi got hurt). Not sure where your certainty is coming from.
This is not the end of the world by any means, but I'm guessing Torres would've been our starting 3B by August. He was already starting to go off in Scranton and it's only June.
So nothing lost except 1/2 season of development. No big deal.
Nah man he was most likely getting the call in August the latest but now it won't happen.
I've been watching Scranton and this guy is by FAR the best bat on the team and that's saying something. Him and Frazier really really really stand out from everyone else. Fowler and Austin look good too but you just see how ready Torres was to become a stud.
Insanely upset and horrible news.
Only silver linings are it came on a contact injury and it was to his non throwing elbow hopefully won't effect the swing..
I'd start him in aaa next season and call him up in June/July 2018. Massive blow.
.312 at Trenton, but now he has to show he can handle AAA. And he's a baby--22, talented but not preternatural like Torres. (Since I was 4, I always wanted to use preternatural in a sentence.)
He hit .281 in June, and after cooling off slightly, is .261 over the past 28 days. If this is "normal," then he is perfectly acceptable for the remainder of this season.
RE: How likely is it that Andujar gets any time this year?

Decent chance imo. He has a stick, it's his glove.
.312 at Trenton is really like .330 that park is an insane pitchers park.
Andujar has some of the things the yankees like too

Interesting view when in fact Kay said he expected him up after all star break
In a kind of ironic way, it kind of benefits the Yanks in the long run. If the Yanks called him up after the trade deadline or All Star break, he would accumulate just under 3 months in the bigs.
In 2018, no one will question the Yanks if they send him to AAA to start the season for a month or two to "knock the rust off."
In so doing, the Yanks would be able to keep him for an extra year. Remember that in order to reach FA, a player needs 6 FULL seasons of ML time. Under the CBA, a full season is generally considered 170 days- which usually means that if a player misses more than 15-20 days in a season in the minors (not on an injury rehab, but after being optioned down), that does NOT count as a full season.
Thus, if the Yanks were to keep Torres in AAA until May, they would not only get the benefit of having him for most of 2018, but he would also NOT be eligible for FA until 2024.
Yankee PR release said they hope he's ready for the start of 2018 spring training!
FUCKKKKKKKKKK
- C. Headley
man, that is for sure ...
Kay said he'll be ready for spring training.

The streak of being contrarian, dopey and feckless all at the same time continues for ol' Stanley.
He's like a ham n egger Radar.
That's cool, he will be interesting to track and hit the shit out of the ball in Trenton..
Maybe this means Wade or Andujar are in the mix to spell Headley
Where you seeing that??
The knew word is 6 weeks max now. CC says post all star break he will be all good and had the same injury last year but this one isn't nearly as bad.
That's from Suzan Waldman earlier on Bro&Ev
Fixed

The kid has alot to play for and hopefully has it between the ears to rehab this injury and get ready to win the 3B job next year.
Headley gets a temporary stay of execution.

With all these focking injuries, this team is suddenly looking like the NY Mets.

Yeah I noticed that as well.
Frazier, Torres and Andujar all have the best exit velo's if I'm
Not mistaken in our system
