Weird news today out of Knicks land. Losing my patience with Phil Jackson

Of course he is because

the Knicks are the Knicks.

I think they're definitely in the conversation for worst run organization in sports.
That would be the last straw for me.

Knicks send Porzingis and filler to match salaries.

Lakers send Mozgod, Deng, Nick Young.

Who says no?
Definitely the last straw for me

Phil Jackson is entering George Costanza-like territory. Seems like he is trying to get fired at this point.

That is a funny stream of gifs in response, though, in that link.

If the filler is Dolan, I'd have to do it.
Phil's signings last season might be worst in team history
Vanzetti : 6/20/2017 12:22 pm : link
Lance Thomas 4/28?

He revealed his incompetence. Up until that point, I thought he did an OK job, not trading away andy more picks and recovering a few second rounders. But those signings last off season were brutal.
Dolan/Jackson Combo for the Ages
Jeffrey : 6/20/2017 12:38 pm : link
Speechless over this rumor. The Melo trade (not a Jackson fiasco, but a Dolan fiasco), the resigning of Melo, the trade for Rose, the signing of Noah would all pale in comparison to this move. Jackson is a disaster in terms of his public relations skills, most of his GM moves and the insistence on proving his genius by forcing the team to run the triangle. Dolan is an owner who simply does not care, because the money rolls in regardless of the product put on the floor, the dysfunctional team and the parade of incompetence in the front office and on the bench.

Yet, there they sit, night after night, the sheep that pay outrageous amounts for the Knicks' games and desperately hope for a change for the better. Maybe if there are enough empty seats and people change the television channel enough, the NBA can finally be motivated to step in and bring a professional team back to the garden.
I don't

Of course he is
mfsd : 6/20/2017 12:40 pm : link
I swear he seems intent on burning the franchise to the ground (as if it wasn't already a dumpster fire when he took over)

So the question is, who is the next Knicks "savior" to be hired by Dolan once Jax has collected his millions and rides off?
How about Ingram or Russell

What if we throw in Clarkson or Randle.
If this rumor is true, it is likely Phil checking
Section331 : 6/20/2017 12:45 pm : link
the market. You never know, some team may blow him away with an offer. On the flip side, it could also mean that Phil isn't confident in resigning KP.

I do think it is time to move on from Phil. I believe it was Monk who said that all they did during his workout was run the triangle. Phil's obsession with an obsolete offense is beyond comical at this point.
Ingram and #2 pick this year starts any Lakers conversation.

If the Knicks were dumb enough to do this, Boston is the only realistic trade partner.

I wouldn't send two out of the three of Dlo, Ingram, and Randle. One at most along with Clarkson and picks.

It would have to be a trade that's unfair to the team that's acquiring him. He's a cost-controlled young player that's a strong season-start away from beginning a perennial all-star appearance streak.

There's no reason to trade him unless it's a nuclear hot offer or you're just unforgivably incompetent. Things are weighted strongly on the second option.
If the tweet is to be taken literally
tbonfig : 6/20/2017 12:48 pm : link
then Phil has nothing to lose by entertaining offers. Doesn't mean he'll get one that he agrees to, but he can be in a position to see what assets are willing to be moved for player X and then see if he can figure out something for a Melo move.

My 2 cents at least.

I'm in the camp of not trading Porzingis away or at least that the offer is probably not out there that would make it worth it to trade him.

trading Porzingas would be the last straw. I will forever ban the Knicks from my life if they do something that stupid.
My point was the Knicks would get
bceagle05 : 6/20/2017 12:52 pm : link
better offers from the Celtics. I would think Ingram and #2 is what the Lakers would have to put out there to really push Boston in a bidding war. No fault of LA - the Nets handed Boston enough assets to outbid anyone.
hate to say I told you so, but..............
Victor in CT : 6/20/2017 12:53 pm : link
I was highly skeptical of Jackson as GM. He never was in chareg of personnel, and never had to work with a rebuilding team from the ground up. He walked into 2 ready made situations with 2 legendary GMs building the rosters.

Congrats to him on the money haul. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

a gigantic overpay. And even that wouldn't be enough. This is uncharted territory. Guys with his ceiling simply aren't traded 2 years into their career.

You would trade KP for Ingram and the number 2 pick? Have you watched Ingram play? Compare that to KPs rookie year. I honestly wouldn't trade KP for Randle, Ingram and Russell and the number 2 pick.

People can say Woj hates the Knicks all they want. But the Knicks worked out Markannen- that's a fact. And Woj isn't making that up. He's not Tommy Dee. The fact that Phil is even open to trading KP tells me everything I need to know. This is why he needed to be fired. It's insane to give this guy another offseason.

I'm just about done with this team. Look at the direction of Boston and Ohilly and then look at this dumpster fire. Phil has done one thing right and he's about to screw that up too. Go fire Phil and outbid the clips for Jerry West. That's a man that knows how to build a team
If Boston
Metnut : 6/20/2017 1:06 pm : link
offers something like #3 in this draft, unprotected Brooklyn pick next year, and the other pick they got from Philly for trading down from #1, the Knicks gotta consider it. They could even throw in a rotation player because they have a roster crunch.

Then that means we would have to take ALL of their picks as opposed to some of them.

3rd pick
Nets pick 2018
Lakers 2018 pick (only if 2 through 5) or Philly/Sacramento (non-top overall pick) in 2019
Celtics 2019
Memphis 2019 (non-top 8 pick)
Clippers 2019 (non-top 14 pick)
Celtics 2021
In fairness to Jackson,
81_Great_Dane : 6/20/2017 1:09 pm : link
the tweet said he's not ruling out trading Porzingis. If I were in his position, I wouldn't rule it out, either. I'd listen to offers. But someone would have to blow me away with their offer.

If there's a "frenzy" that might go well for the Knicks. But in NBA trades, the team that gets the best player generally wins. How do you bring back a player better than Porzingis?

If the Celtics were a KP away from contending with GS that might make sense, but three #1's for KP is a little much IMO.

Yeah that sounds about right. So you have #3 and #8 this year, plus three picks next year (including your own), all of which will likely be top eight or so. At some point everyone's expendable. I love KP too, but he's not Tim Duncan.

is only if it is #2-5. It's a weird conditional pick.

Kristaps and his family are acting like he's a 1st team All NBA player. Fans are so starved for anything positive that it's no surprise they're treating Kristaps like he just had KAT's season.
The market dictates KP's value, not Knicks fans.
bceagle05 : 6/20/2017 1:14 pm : link
The Knicks have no reason to deal him unless their blown away. Even the most objective person would agree this trade would require two premium draft picks + a decent-to-good young player.
KP and Melo for one of Kyrie or Love
