NFT: Masters tickets

MookGiants : 6/20/2017 12:21 pm
Finally won something through the masters lottery, got tickets for Wednesday practice round. Still haven't won the lottery for actual tournament day badges, but Wednesday practice round and par 3 tournament should be pretty sweet.

Who here has been for the practice rounds? If i'm going to be down there already I may just pay the going rate for a thursday badge so I can see a tournament day as well.

I have read some people prefer the practice rounds actually, curious if anyone here has been and has an opinion on that.

Went a number of years ago

And it was a zoo. And bring your hiking shoes as it is WAY hillier that you see on TV. I'd never go again(except to play of course).
How much is it usually

I was there on a Wed. three years ago
fireitup77 : 6/20/2017 12:37 pm : link
and it was great! It was the opposite of a zoo when I was there. If you are going to see a lot of golf then Wed. practice round is not the time to go. There were just a few players out practicing. It's all about the Par 3 contest that day.

I couldn't care less about seeing the players. I went to see the course and it was a perfect day for that. There were very few people out on the course and my daughter and I were able to basically roam free out there.

On the secondary market routinely go for $1,250-$1,500. It's the par 3 tournament; people love it.

I had tickets to Wednesday this year. Rained out. Major, major bummer but still had a fantastic trip with friends. Was inside the front gates of Augusta Natoonal for a grand total of about 75 minutes broken up in 2 chunks. Never made it into Pro Shop. I'm getting bummed again just re-thinking this!

Mook - I recommend flying into Charleston and spending a day/night there as part of the trip. Only a slightly further drive to Augusta than ATL, and Charleston is outstanding. Once you head down toward Augusta, I recommend staying in Aiken, SC.

Happy for you, you're gonna have an awesome time.

you take plenty of pictures, with a loud flash of course, and you have to yell, "Get in the hole!" every time a player is driving off of the tee.

I thought this year it was "say hello to your mother for me" Clear as day the other day
I've been to the practice and a Saturday

The practice is great because you can take photos and it's very relaxed. Saturday was fun too. Buy a chair for $12? and you can place it wherever you want. Put your card in the slot and you can return to it anytime. We parked on the 7 green and walked around quite a bit.

No phones or cameras Thursday to Sunday.
Have been several times.

Course is located right off a busy road full of strip shopping centers and restaurants. The course is about the most manicured piece of property I've ever seen. Food and drink are very reasonably priced. Pimento cheese sandwiches are great. Spend some time at the 16th hole. The players try to skip balls across the pond to the green. Make room reservations as soon as you can.
Even the gravel parking lots are manicured

you have to see the course to appreciate it.
