just abysmal. Too bad since they are both hitting positions. I am surprised that Austin or someone else hasn't replaced Carter yet. I know the fans are tired of him striking out but it appears the organization isn't,yet. I can live with Headley batting 8th or 9th if Carter wasn't there.

Just wait for Bird and Torres. This lineup is going to be the bomb

...in 2018.
Bird insurance
River : 6/20/2017 6:54 pm : link
Would you start having Judge take reps at 1st base next spring?
Or even Frazier at AAA this year?

Bird is hurt because he fouled a ball off his knee.
Earlier this year it was foul off his ankle?
Can this man play without hitting the DL every 3 months?

If Judge was at 1st you could bring up Frazier next year with Fowler and Sell Gardner(now one is taking Els)
meaning Hicks Frazier Fowler outfield with Judge at 1st
Or he can play RF too and it would be Fowler Hicks and Judge and you could DH Frazier.
Either way it would not hurt the Yankees to Get Judge and Frazier some reps at 1st next year in ST.
Fun Fact

I like Judge at 1B in the future maybe. But to me the answer is trading both Gardy And Ellsbury and eating most of Ells money. In the offseason.
But the Judge's Chambers are already in place!

Yeah left is good, if he flops then Rutherford might be the guy.

Hopefully Mateo in CF, if not it could be Fowler if Ells and Gardy are dealt.. i would like to see Frazier get CF reps but he looks cemented into LF

LF at home requires a CF. I think some of us forget just how important Gardner is out there. If Frazier isn't a CF I don't much like him for LF.

LF at home requires a CF. I think some of us forget just how important Gardner is out there. If Frazier isn't a CF I don't much like him for LF.

He can run super fast, has a cannon arm. Sure he won't be Gardy in LF..

But he will handle it, even in YS. And unlike Gardy and other LFs who profile toward Cf, Frazier can hit 35 HRs and steal 30 bags easily at the plate for starters. He's also almost ready just needs seasoning and maturity. His timeline to the bigs and Torres have now become very very similar with the injury. Tho it is perhaps possible we see Frazier in September

Seriously. Why do we even need a manager? Just hand the instructions to the bat boy before the game. 7th inning = Clippard, 8th inning = Betances, etc. etc. etc.

but you do have to wonder if the Yankees will regain their early season mojo. Tanaka's still a mess and CC's out six weeks, bullpen depth is an issue, we're stuck with the Headley/Carter combo for awhile, and Gardy's already begun his second half drop off. A lot to overcome.

The starting pitching hasn't been great, but the bullpen has been the problem in most of the previous 8 games. Clippard, by himself, has almost cost this team 5 games over the last 8.

Joe has to be smarter too. Why use Clippard to face the top of the Angels' order... because it's the 7th fucking inning? Betances should've been facing the "meat" of the Angels order regardless of what inning it was.

Hopefully, Pineda gets his head out of his ass soon.

Pineda gave up 1 earned run. He struggled the first two innings and if not for Carter whiffing on a little league charity hop grounder, that was all he would have given up.
I can see why the Yanks drafted 23 pitchers or whatever it was
Del Shofner : 6/20/2017 10:40 pm : link
the other night. Sheesh.
Girardi
Kyle in NY : 6/20/2017 10:41 pm : link
is flat out not doing the job right now. I'm not one to normally rip him, I'm generally a fan of his. But Betances has pitched once in these seven games. And they've all been close games. That flat out cannot happen.

With Chapman back, no excuse to not have Betances in the game in the 7th. Fuck the defined roles.
And this Chris Carter thing
Kyle in NY : 6/20/2017 10:44 pm : link
is a complete organizational failure at this point. I don't understand the reluctance to move on from shitty veterans on cheap deals. It's like Stephen Drew 2.0

Now cut him already.
Girardi stinks...
blue2 : 6/20/2017 10:45 pm : link
fire him please!!!!
also - there was a BBI poster who used to say that Cash tells Girardi
Del Shofner : 6/20/2017 10:46 pm : link
how to manage - and while I think that's a little too strong, I think the Yanks do have the organization set roles and Girardi just has to live when them until the organization says otherwise. Exhibits A, B and C are Carter, Clippard and Headley. Joe gets to manage them within the game, to an extent, but their roles are defined from above.

Just my $.02 - I was skeptical about his, but the more I watch the Yanks, the more I think it's true. I think Girardi is a good manager but he doesn't choose the players and he's given a game plan as to their roles. I don't think things will change until Cash goes to some form of Plan B, maybe over the All Star break (although Gleyber's injury is a monkey wrench).

Hopefully, Pineda gets his head out of his ass soon.

Pineda gave up 1 earned run. He struggled the first two innings and if not for Carter whiffing on a little league charity hop grounder, that was all he would have given up.

I know Carter shit the bed with the lazy error and Pineda wasn't awful, but they need him to pitch better. They need him to get deep into a game. I'm fairly certain Joe didn't want to go to Shreve in the 6th inning.

how to manage - and while I think that's a little too strong, I think the Yanks do have the organization set roles and Girardi just has to live when them until the organization says otherwise.

Pretty sure that was Randall Graves. I wouldn't take him too seriously. Girardi is a good manager who is having a bad stretch of games. But he needs to learn to abandon some of his worst tendencies.

1 out from ending the inning, but yes he needed to go a little deeper - but again Carter's error cost him 15 pitches - about an inning.
Cashman definitely dictates roles.

I was listening to his interview with Francesa and he made a passing reference to Sanchez playing a little first base a couple of weeks ago, and how he (Cash) wasn't too happy about it. I doubt we'll see that again.
yanks are bad team right now

this could be a very long losing streak as they played over their heads up til now.

like everyone said before season..they are 1 to 2 years away (getting starters and etc) to being a legit contenders

is a complete organizational failure at this point. I don't understand the reluctance to move on from shitty veterans on cheap deals. It's like Stephen Drew 2.0

Now cut him already.

Wasn't drew the starting second baseman all year up until the last two weeks of the season because he got a concussion?? I would expect the same to happen with carter they will keep playing this bum just like they did drew,
hate to nitpick, but why take Pinata out there? He was finally in

Clippard is a gasoline can in search of a fire.

Totally Agree! This is the Real Yanks... :-(
It's time to put Carter (since they won't DFA him)

On the bench and play Torreyez at 3rd. Holliday and Headley rotation at 1st.
Torreyes would be completely exposed and overmatched if he played
Victor in CT : 6/21/2017 10:30 am : link
everyday at 3b. They're stuck with Headley and Carter for now.

Their biggest problem in this skid is lack of innings form starters. Get 7 innings+ from the rotation every night and they win 5 of 6. 6 or less and they lose 7 straight

Which is what we all thought would be their biggest problem going into the season.

Oh give me a break. He batted over .300 and had 13 RBis in the month of April playing every day while DIdi was out.

1) 3B is a power position. 2) It was April, lots of days off 3) he's small and will wear down in the summer heat. He's a utility player, albeit a good one 4) get a clue. your right there with the Tyler Austin is the 1b savior crowd.

What a surprise, you show up to gloat over losses.
Kay
mitch300 : 6/21/2017 3:22 pm : link
ripping the Yankees for playing Carter. States with Carter you have a NL lineup. Suggested Torreyes playing 3rd and Headley play 1st or have Holliday play 1st or bring up Wade to play 3rd if they don't want to expose Torreyes and have Headley play 1st.
People really, really overrate Torreyes
Greg from LI : 6/21/2017 3:23 pm : link
He's a nice bench piece, but that's it. You play him every day and you're not going to get any more real production than you would Carter. Decent contact hitter with zero power who doesn't walk much.

Correct. That's why Kay mentioned bringing up Wade and put him at 3rd and Headly at 1st. BTW Holliday playing 1st tonight.
Holliday is starting at 1st tonight per Kay.

Francesa killed Joe for putting Clippard in the for the 7th inning and also admitted that the callers asking for Carter to be jettisoned (which he initially disagreed with) were correct.
Yanks could go on a tear

they got the bats and enough pitching. Girardi has hit a rough spot where every button he pushes backfires. Don't like his lineups and his pitching changes speak for itself
