Look, its not going to change your life, they're not going to be talking about it 20 years from now, but its mid-June, there's nothing on besides the daily Yanks/Mets game... pretty decent.
Its interesting in that none of the characters are particularly likable (the blonde Jewish girl, maybe). Their comedy isn't very funny. But that's intentional. It doesnt beat you over the head with the (probably true) sterotype that funny people are completely miserable out of the spotlight, but (assuming there's a bit of authenticity), gives you a little perspective on what the people youre never going to know go through to try to make it.
And I'm a sucker for early 70's period pieces. I think its probably a product of being born in the early 80s -- it was gone, but there were remnants of this stuff still around by the time I arrived. Neat to see how it was in its day.
As far as where it lands on the scale of "good tv", think like Californication -- amusing, but not profound.
I'll eventually give it a shot, but there is too much good TV now with Fargo, Better Call Saul, and American Gods.
First time I read the post I was like.. wow, this guy is all over the place. What the HELL is he talking about?
Also, kind of bummed to hear that this season of Fargo wasn't good. I really liked the first season and am in the middle of the 2nd right now and am enjoying it.
I had heard mostly good reviews of the 3rd season, so I'm a little surprised to hear otherwise.
