How they always have cap space
The Patriots obviously don't read this site
Brown Recluse : 6/21/2017 11:31 am : link
otherwise they'd know he is too old. Pass.

Harris is a great player
GiantTuff1 : 6/21/2017 11:45 am : link
would have loved him in Blue, but for the first time in a while it seems like we've got a decent rotation and players ready to step into prominent roles that actually seem promising.

He's long been my favorite on that Jet's D, freakin Pats.

You're right about one thing; if the Pats spent any time on this site they wouldn't enjoy the success they have. With your indepth knowledge I'm sure Reese would hire you on the spot
Jets fans are vomiting

right about now...
This probably pushes the Pats over the line
Jimmy Googs : 6/21/2017 1:39 pm : link
they will be favorites to win the SuperBowl this season...

Because they dont resign anyone to absurd contracts and they trade them before they're contract is up for draft picks.

Yup.
easy to do when you have Belichick and Brady
UConn4523 : 6/21/2017 2:25 pm : link
conceptually it isn't rocket science. Once both are gone it will be hard to replicate that strategy.
And did you see the contact Edelman just signed?
Go Terps : 6/21/2017 2:26 pm : link
2 years, $11m, $7m guaranteed.

That is an incredible deal for such a good player.
Edelman
Kyle in NY : 6/21/2017 2:34 pm : link
could easily get more on the open market but he's tight with Brady and he knows he's got a good thing going.

That type of hometown discount certainly helps perpetuate that cap space.
It's certainly a hell of a discount over his open-market value
Ten Ton Hammer : 6/21/2017 3:15 pm : link
but you have to wonder how much of a choice he had in the matter. Part of me doubts the team was going to pay him much more than that if he took issue with it.

Probably not. There's always someone else to do the job.

Brady's also played at below market rate for a while. He's at $13 million cap hit for this year I think, and pretty sure he's about the 12th or so highest paid QB in the league

Then who the hell was that who signed Richard Seymour to a monster contract? Who was paying the DB Revis a QB salary for several year? Who is paying Stephon Gilmore a contract similar to the Giants Jenkins? Who just gave one of their own resticted free agents a $4M one-year contract?
