They want to trade 1b Matt Adams to the Yanks.
Makes great sense to me. We need a 1b who will not cost any top picks. He has a plus glove and is hitting
.294 25 runs 9 HRs 34 rbis with .346 obp
Why it works for Braves: They acquired Matt when franchise player Freddy Freeman went on the DL with a broken hand or wrist. He is set to come back soon. NL has no DH so he would ride the bench 90% of the time.
Why it makes sense for the Yanks: Bird is in no mans land an who knows when he will be back. Carter cant hit the side of a house and from last night can't field a simple ground ball. Adam can also DH should the need arise.
Now I have no idea what is going on with Austin. IF the yanks feel that he can handle 1b soon then great bring him up, if not Adams would be a good trade.
Other than that 7 game losing streak feels pretty shitty.
The best player we've ever gotten from Atlanta is Chasen Shreve, and thats not saying much. Do Chris Hammond, Chris Carpenter and Denny Nagle ring a bell for anybody ?
Adams is better than Duda. Much better. Besides let the Mets be stuck with Duda.

I guess you haven't been following Adams' career. He isn't some stiff who just happened to get hot.

Why is that whenever one of these trade threads come up, its always about some National league stiff ? So a bench player on one of the worst teams in baseball in the worst division in baseball has gets hot and we're supposed to be interested ? Unless the want to sell him for cash, No Thank you.

So the Mets wont get much for Duda per your comment on the other thread, but the Braves will have a tall "asking price" for Adams.
Adams (28 y/o):
2017: 163 atbats, 911 OPS, 134 OPS+, 0.9 WAR, 34% hit rate
Career: 1,544 atbats, 785 OPS, 112 OPS+, 5.0 WAR, 32% hit rate
Duda (31 y/o):
2017: 163 atbats, 878 OPS, 128 OPS+, 0.9 WAR, 26% hit rate
Career: 2,405 atbats, 798 OPS, 121 OPS+, 6.9 WAR, 29% hit rate
...so despite one guy having his lowest career hit rate (balls that fall for hits as % of balls put in play) while the other guy is having his best, the OPS+ and WAR of the two players is still pretty even this year.
Additionally, Duda has produced a better career OPS, OPS+ and WAR and over a larger 900 atbat sample size.
Atlanta marketing machine at work folks - been watching this with grudging respect for 20 years. Second only to the Red Sox in hyping up their own.

I suggest you go back and re-read my post in the other tread. I never said that Adams had more value than Duda. I also never said Adams was a better player than Duda. What I said was that the Braves like Adams a lot and will likely request a lot more in return than the Yankees would be willing to give up. A Mets fan accusing a Braves fan of hyping up their own lol!
Wait, the Braves are gonna move their franchise player to 3rd base to keep....drum roll.....Matt Adams in the lineup? Are you freaking kidding me? Holy shit man. There are no words. It's Matt freaking Adams! I get it, he's hot right now. But holy over reaction. Matt Adams is forcing Freddie Freeman to change positions. Just think about that for a minute

upon his return from the DL after the all-star break. He practiced at third today. I am not sure if this is legit or a cheap ploy to try to raise the asking price for Adams.

It was actually Freeman's idea. Adams was very good during the 2013 and 2014 seasons but this just seems like a ploy to me.
