NFT: Jones Beach area- places to eat/hangout before concert

MookGiants : 6/21/2017 6:55 pm
Going to a concert on Saturday at Jones Beach. I've never been and I'm rarely ever on long island so i have no idea where would be a good spot to go on friday before the show probably from like 4-7 or so. Any cool spots to go to drink and grab a bite to eat in that area?
Runyon's on Merrick Rd. in Seaford.

OAR & Train. We did the Pointe in Point Lookout. 21 beers on tap and have a nice outdoor patio if you're getting something to eat before the show. Food was pretty good as well.
The best seafood in the area

is either Jordan's Lobster Farm in Island Park or Anchor Down in Merrick. The Shack in Point Lookout is also a good choice for convenience and drinks, but the food is good but not quite as good.

Third Eye Blind? I'll be there too. Not much within 15 minutes. Great benie to tailgate though. Best bets for bars I guess that are relatively close are Point Lookout, Long Beach or the Nautical Mile in Freeport. The Nautical Mile is awesome.

in theory, this is the best option..

BUT, unless Jones Beach changed their policy, there is no drinking in the parking lot.. kind of lame.

I haven't been to a show there in 3 years, but last I was there the parking lot was swarming with undercovers busting people for drinking.

in the 90s, it was never a problem.

The All American then tailgating is a solid option BTW.

Yeah i've never had a problem. People openly tailgate / drink / grill like Giant games. Just last summer I went to 3 shows and didn't have an issue. The restriction they used to have was that they didn't sell booze INSIDE the stadium, only in the VIP tent. But that's since changed.

There are undercovers though but i've only seen them busting people for weed.
Just make sure you being good solo cups

They won't bust your balls if it's not out in the open.

All-American and tailgate is the way to go.

Aren't the 2 restaurants at Tobay still open?

As DK mentioned above, you can't go wrong with the Nautical Mile, especially on a nice day. Tons of options and great seafood.

what beach is the best to go to on sunday? Staying in farmingdale but want to hit a beach on sunday before heading home. Not entirely sure how the beach access works on LI if it's like NJ or not. Are there any beaches you can have open container ?

mile advice. Had a terrific time there before and after the show. Great weather and environment.

Great show as well, only complaint was I had no idea high tide would actually flood the pit area and had to stand in soaking wet socks. I didnt even think of that or I would have worn flip flops.
