given that the raiders have never had a QB that started 100 games for them (giants have had three- manning, simms, and connerly), and that they reasonably think Carr is their guy, it's sensible...
but anyone else find themselves "rooting" for the raiders too?
Favorite unis, Bo Jackson tecmo, ... i don't know what it is, but I like them a lot. I also think they are legit SB contenders and felt terrible when Carr went down.
Giants Raiders SB this year. (Sweeping Brady 3 times would be cool too I guess).
He has been exceptional and I can't fault the Raiders at all here
McKenzie has rebuilt that franchise and is among the best GM's in football. Having early picks helps but getting Mack and Carr in the same draft is incredible. I didn't like Carr coming out but he is a top 10 QB and could be a top 5 by the end of the season.
When you have one you keep him or you become Cleveland or the Jets. He has shown to be good enough to win so you pay what you have to pay to keep him. Let's hope that Webb is the future for us and that we never have to go through a down stretch like we did with Dave Brown/Kent Graham/Danny Kannell again.
You can find other positions in FAs, but rarely does a franchise QB come available. Where would the saints have been without Brees? They got very lucky.
I could be mistaken, he might've been selected the year before. Just seems like people think it's too soon to extend Beckham, but extending Carr in the same time frame was a good move.

Well yes, but Carr is mature and hard working.
RE: RE: Wasn't he in the same draft class as OBJ ??

He was a second rounder though. No option year. They'd have to tag him or re-sign him after this year.

Carr was a second round pick with no year five option.
His extension is coming in the typical one year out frame.

He was, but he was a 2nd rounder so he's only under contract for 4 years and would've been a free agent after the 2017 season. Since Beckham's a 1st rounder, the Giants have the 5th year option, which they've already picked up, making him a free agent after the 2018 season.
I wouldn't put him top 5 yet, but he's already proven he's good starter and probably in the 2nd tier of QBs. He threw for just under 4000 yds (missed the final game) with 28 TDs and only 6 INTs while completing ~64% of his passes. And that's in just his 3rd season.
Has made it known all along that he was wanting to stay the rest of his career. Good on the Oak. F/O to get it done. Finally acting like a legit SB contender after all those years of buffoonery.

The Redskins better do something quick, because if the cap goes up again next year as expected, Cousins is going to score a much more massive contract than he would have had they signed him last year.
I've seen more from him in his short career than I've seen from Newton and Wilson, in terms of carrying a team. Luck is a question mark riding on a lot of hype with little to show for it.
Better than Mariota & Winston.
Only if you're a Chiefs fan do you think he's nothing special, IMO.

I'm a fan of all three QB's. Derek Carr has had better skill players overall compared to Jameis, who's really only had Mike Evans, and has also done a solid job leading his team. I fully expect to see him make a huge jump this year with Desean to stretch the field.

I'd take him over them as well. My favorite young QB in the league. Really likable guy, as well.

They have a good shot this year. Carr obviously is integral to their success after last postseason's quick end.
And for us Giants fans, this is great news as it increases the price for Cousins!

Holly smokes!

I'll be there
My son and I do one Giant road trip a year

Ok that makes sense
This is an excellent point. Defenderdawg's reading today had a link talking about this as well.
