Very solid draft for the Knicks. I give it a solid B. I know most of you don't love Frank, but I think we'll be very happy with what he provides long term.
Since we've beaten the Frank talk to death, I thought it would be helpful to talk about some other guys and look at the roster construction.
With their first 2nd rounder, they took Damyean Dotson.
6'6, 44% 3PT shooter, solid athlete, seems to have upside as a passer and defender. Major knocks are that he's already 23 and has limited shot creating ability. Seems like he could step into the role Justin Holiday had.
With their second 2nd, they took Ognjen Jaramaz
Seems to be a plus athlete with good size and handle, but a subpar shooter. Probably unlikely he plays in the NBA next year but who knows.
They also signed Nigel Hayes who I think has a real shot at making the team. Smart kid, good passer, rebounder, defender. Can't shoot a lick. Good 15th man, good locker room presence.
And Luke Kornet, who seems to be able to shoot and block shots, but do practically nothing else. Apparently he signed a two way contract, so they can just bring him back and forth between NYK and Westchester? I'm honestly not quite sure how these things work. It's a new rule I believe.
Here's a crack at the current depth chart:
C. Willy/Noah/KOQ/Plumlee
PF. KP/Lance/Ndour
SF. Melo/Kuz/Hayes
SG. Lee/Dotson
PG. Frank/Randle
Woof. That is one trashy NBA roster. But that's okay.
Next step has to be moving Melo imo. Rebuild around a KP/Frank/Willy core, tank, and use the next top pick they get to bring on a high profile scorer.

whomever asked about the triangle fit for Frank, the way it was explained to me is that the 1 and 2 have to be able to do both roles within the offense so a "tweener" (not in a bad way, but a guy who can do both) is a better fit than a pure 1.
That's part of it (as far as my understanding of it goes), but it also requires a faster pace of play and lots more passing, constantly moving the ball. Pick-n-rolls are not the main objective as it is for most teams and instead a lot of constant ball movement until a shooter is wide open. Hence, a point guard who can cleanly distribute the ball and is also a tenacious defender is better suited than the traditional PG being the QB of the team and taking a lot of shots by fancy play and getting open themselves and then doing little in defense.
I fully acknowledge I don't know a ton about the triangle beyond what most of us have read. I was just told that by a former coach I know (not an NBA coach but a knowledgeable guy)

Kawhi Leonard being offered for KP is beyond ridiculous I'm sorry
The way it was phrased is that the Spurs initiated the inquiry on KP and a deal involving the two. He never even said the word offer. I was listening live. I'm sure that sort of thing happened a lot over the past two days when teams were trying to make a trade for KP.
Any live streams actually working? Can't seem to find any on YouTube.

You're right, but to be fair, the ESPN guys were baiting Fran for that one.

You ok? You seem extra irritable today. Everything anyone posts you go on a tangent about how ridiculous it is. Take a deep breath.

Look through this thread. You can cherry pick the last one if you'd like, but this thread is full of you calling everything posted ridiculous. Fran says that Franks team would beat UNC by 40? Ridiculous! ESPN saying that Frank may have the most upside? Ridiculous! 5 player trade! Ridiculous! Leonard for KP? Ridiculous!
I mean, I tend to agree with you on much of it, but fact is, we don't know the answer for certain on any of it. No need to act like the smartest guy in the room every time someone posts something. It's very unbecoming.

BBS some of these comments are over the top ridiculous. Jon is watching the same game I am, ask him about the ability of these teams to beat UNC "by 40". That's not an indictment of Frank as a prospect. It might be if he were 22 and not dominating though.
But anyways, you two are scaring the shit out of me while watching that game. It's really that bad? Ugh
OUR SON IS COOKING OUT HERE FOLKS.
Let that boy coooook
Hype level is unreal.
Nah I have all kinds of popup blockers on though
