NFT: NHL Draft Thread 06/23

Sammo85 : 6/23/2017 7:03 am
Draft being held in Chicago. Will be on NHL Network and NBCSN. Round 1 tonight at 7pm. Remaining rounds conducted Saturday.

Devils have #1 pick. Current thinking is they go Hischier but some smoke Patrick still in play. Unlikely to trade pick and trade down unless bowled over. Some rumors Vegas may try to trade for pick. Devils supposedly very active in trade talks as well. Rumored to be talking to MTL about Galchenyuk and also Hawks about Hjalmarsson/Anisimov. Some thought Henrique may be in play.

Rangers have #21 pick. Not clear who is being targeted but could see them targeting a defenseman prospect. Quite a few should be available around there. Rumors out there Rangers also in on Galchenyuk and are dangling Stepan around the league.

Isles have no 1st rounder. Rumors abound of trying to trade Hamonic for a 1st rounder in a package. Rumors of Flames being very interested.

I think it is, in that it's definite now where it was "almost certain" before.

Saves NYR a little extra cap space, I believe. 2-3M, IIRC.

2.9 million. It ain't chump change. This is a pretty big break

Yep, you can definitely put 3M to good use in this league.

Might be able to afford Tanner Glass for next year.

I think you're making a pretty big assumption that Glass would take a hometown discount.

Someone out there would likely be willing to go 4.5-5 per on a 5 year deal, IMO. Glass demonstrated in the playoffs that he's not only a sandpaper guy, but also a pretty prolific goal scorer.

Uncle Larry and his headlines....

Hank basically said absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.

Here's the cliff notes...

Will miss Step and G because they were guys he was teammates with for a very long time and cared about both them and their families on a personal level so it's tough to see them go.

Understands, however, that it is a business and these things happen and knows NYR management will do whatever they can do put a competitive team on the ice.

Says the left knee injury he sustained playing for SWE won't affect his prep for the upcoming season at all.

That's it.

I read it, that's why I didn't comment on it.

Player says he's going to miss players he's played with for so long as they leave the team. News at 11.

Stepan, Girardi, Klein, etc.(?) all been here a while. No idea why it's news their teammate is sad to see them leave.

Oh, yeah - no issue with you posting it. Just funny that the headline really doesn't match the article at all. But, that's Brooksie for ya...
