With all the moves the other teams in the division are making, it sounds like we're lagging behind them. We need to keep up if we want to make the playoffs.

Ilike Raanta, but Lundqvist is here for the duration of that contract.

I don't know much about D'Angelo

But we're losing our #1 C and potential starting G

but not great young D? Eh, I hope there's more.

That ARIZ 7th pick is going to NYR as part of a deal that includes DeAngelo. For Raanta/Stepan. May be more

Keeps getting traded. That's a bit troubling.

7th pick is a nice bonus. Wonder if Rangers try and ship it back out or use it to move up.

It's a pretty weak draft this year.

if in getting D'Angelo, we don't go after Shattenkirk (the latter is obviously a much better player) and that this is the start of a slow rebuild.

It's hard to tear the entire thing down because we have a lot of guys in their prime, but given the lack of an elite center and an aging star goalie, Gorton might be thinking our window's closed.

The Rangers should save some serious dough with this trade.

This is probably just the very beginning - I think Gorto is going to do quite a bit of re-tooling here.

I don't know if we got enough. Gotta see what comes next though. A few whispers about Evander Kane are out there

He's been a very good homegrown player for the Rangers.

DeAngelo is only 21. Have not really seen him play enough to know anything more than that. His suspensions probably lowered his value a bit. Good opportunistic trade.

I like trades with an eye to the future. The Yandel and especially the Staal trade--that's what they have to avoid.

OR

21st Overall packaged for a Dman, sign Thornton.

Getting younger and cheaper while still hopefully remaining competitive with Hank. Certainly flush with cap space now.

The 21st pick has got to be in play. A few of those names from that last tweet are interesting

All things being nearly equal, wouldn't mind the highest upside center.

I would be over the moon to get Duchene or Mackinnon. Give them Holden back!

was miscast as a no.1 center. Love the guy, Badger, but it was smart to trade him.

I don't know much about the NHL draft, but 7 is an awfully high pick for a backup goalie and an overpaid no. 2 center, no?

But this draft has been pegged as unusually weak

#7 and Miller probably keeps them on the phone for another 10-15 seconds OL but probably still isn't enough.

Not gonna happen.

I don't love the return on this deal at first blush, but steering clear of another NMC and clearing $7m in addition to a top 10 pick isn't awful.

Strikes me as a deal you don't make unless there is another shoe to drop...even with a Zibanejad re-sign and the worst imaginable deal for Shattenkirk, there would probably be around $10m in space.

(Disclaimer: I'm not advocating a Shattenkirk blank check by any means, in just expecting it at this point)
