FINALLY. Good riddance Carter, and welcome back Austin. Great news.
Carter has to be thrilled
B in ALB : 6/24/2017 1:19 am : link
He seemed completely done. He will latch onto another team quickly.

Maybe he'll get a shot at Clownway Park. Lazy fly balls to right field off the Clown Monster for easy singles.
thank god
RasputinPrime : 6/24/2017 1:24 am : link
it was painful watching him out there. With Headley you always sense he is trying too hard but with Carter it always seemed like he was just throwing the bat lazily at the ball.

Japan or Korea will do right by him.

You could tell by the look Girardi gave him

as he walked past him right after K'ing in the 10th that there was utter disgust there. This couldn't keep going on.

to clear his spot on the 40 man roster.
A relief for all involved

I was actually starting to feel sorry for the guy until I reminded myself that he was making 3 million this year. One of the worst players in MLB history to hit 40 HRs in a season,

Weird swing, in that the lower half's movements are incongruent to the upper half. Kind of like Jesus Montero in that regard. Carter's swing reminded me of a back-hand tennis stroke. It looked like he read the spin pretty well. He wasn't surprised by the ball. But all he could handle were grooved, half-assed fastballs and hanging curves. Seemed like a really good guy the couple of times I heard him speak. Happy Trails, Chris.
Tyler Wade

Is getting some playing time at 3rd base for SWB. Could be as a precaution (Headley is out until at least Sunday with back spasms), or with Headley also struggling maybe they are looking at possible longer term options at 3B.
Yanks are going to regret this move in the long run

"this move" and "long run" are completely unrelated.

Why a precaution?? Girardi said that he wanted and hoped that Wade becomes our super utility guy (ala Ben Zobrist). Having him play 4 positions (ss/2b/OF/3b) just adds to his value to us and will save a roster spot later on for a pitcher or another OF.
Thank the motha fckin heavens!!

Can't stand watching Carter trotted out there every day. He stinks in the field and is an automatic strikeout at the plate. May as well see what we have in the young prospect in Austin until Bird hopefully comes back. Not to mention Austin can play RF too.

May take years for the org to recover from this disaster. You just don't let young hall of fame potential all around talents like Chris Carter walk out the door

I'm done with this team. Let's go Mets
Beer Man, No need to clear him off 40 yet...
BC Eagles94 : 6/24/2017 9:00 am : link
Austin is already on the 40 man roster.
Good start to the day
arniefez : 6/24/2017 9:13 am : link
now DL Headley, release Mason Williams and call up Wade for 3B and emergency OF.

Wade is not on the 40 man roster, so they can't move him up without trading or dumping someone. It appears that Carter is about to be bumped. The utility guy for now is Torreyes

I wasn't thinking in terms of Austin. The team appears to have held back bringing up some prospects (Wade, Adams, etc.) because there is no room on the 40 man roster.

I believe they now have 2 spots available. I'd imagine Wade, Fowler, Adams all in consideration. Frazier soon but prob want to see more consistent contact at AAA from him.

I'd expect to see Mateo and a few other guys (such as Mason Williams) who are on the 40 that they dont have in long term plans dealt to open spots as well as they're going to have a Rule 5 crunch again.

I don't see a move on Fowler this year

No rush and there aren't really any ABs for him with the crowded OF.

Wade on the other hand can play pretty much everywhere but C so they could bring him up and move him around the infield and even get him a start/week in the OF.

Adams might force their hand soon. Only knock this season is his inability to go deep into games.

Yeah, its only 1 unless Bird was moved to 60 day.

Could see him help out of the pen down the stretch if the guys there continue to blow. May help with any innings limits as well.

I could see Fowler up if Bird can't get healthy and they use Holliday at 1st more. Would not be surprised to see some of the OFs take balls at 1st either.
Had to happen
averagejoe : 6/24/2017 10:22 am : link
I think Carter was trying but you can only wait so long for a streak hitter to start hitting. Won't surprise me if he gets hot for his next team. Austin deserves a shot. Improve the defense and he can hardly produce less than Carter.

The Clown Monster is in Left Field.

You could tell Girardi was upset at the end of the game knowing he was going to give the guy his walking papers. Had to be tough.
Oh well that's Baseball!

He's a strikeout machine too only younger. That a was a sweet double play he hit into today. At least Carter struck out when he made our instead of hitting into double plays. This guy is so overrated it isn't even fjnnny.
You know you're reaching when

I was at the game today and when Austin hit into a double play
32_Razor : 6/24/2017 9:06 pm : link
he loafed it running to first. Honestly, he could have beaten the throw to first if he busted it down the line. His first game and he loafed. not a good sign
