Bibens-Dirkx (damn that's a mouth full) vs Cessa
Lets go for 2 in a row!!!
I expect that Austin will be in the lineup at 1b with Carter sent packing. I know that he was striking out more than they liked in AAA but he cant be worse than Carter.
Tanaka throws a gem (who knew???) as did Darvish.
I do not know why the Yanks did not put a claim in for Fister. We let the Sox get him. I'm not saying that he would be the answer but it would not have hurt to try him with our SP crapping the storm lately or our middle relief sucking.
Post lineups here.
Luis Cessa (R)
vs. Rangers - Austin Bibens-Dirkx (R)
1. Mason Williams (L) CF
2. Aaron Hicks (S) LF
3. Aaron Judge (R) RF
4. Matt Holliday (R) DH
5. Starlin Castro (R) 2B
6. Didi Gregorius (L) SS
7. Tyler Austin (R) 1B
8. Ronald Torreyes (R) 3B
9. Austin Romine (R) C
Mind bindering.
Offense looks like shit against Trash Ball pitcher Dierks Banbury.
Great job, Cessa.
He will come around tho and hit .250
9 HR (now 10) to left or left-center
6 HR to center
10 HR to right or right-center
Judge's HR spray chart - ( New Window )
We know it was due to how distraught you were over our lacking 1B options
... 2Ks and a GDP today, oi vey, at least he can play first with a modicum of professional ability.
Why they continue to try to get him right in games that count is beyond me. He's dogshit.
Tough to see an accomplished pitcher go through this. But it's pretty clear his confidence is shot. He's got to go.

Can't send him down Veteran, no options Only if he was physically hurt he can go down for rehab, like Ellsbury is doing tonight! Options are either DFA him, do not bring him in games like today, only down 3 going into the 9th & only bring him into blowouts (like if the game was 8-1)
Green, Warren, Shreve could all fill that roll. When CC comes back Cessa would also be a valuable asset out of the bullpen. DFA the fucking guy. Micheal Kay makes it sound like he was this great relief pitcher over his career and yeah he had a couple of good years but he is not indispensable for Crying out loud.
Nobody is going to overrate that lineup

Fine. Put him on the DL. Then "rehab" him. I'm sure the team won't miss him.

Never ever doubt that I think Michael Kay is a level 1, top of the heap douche bag. He's a dope. Our BP is so deep again this year. There's no real need for any middle guy at all.
Cessa was fine - settled down after the 1st inning, 3 runs on 3 hits total is reasonable. As others have said, that's a game we should be able to win, except we made another ham n egger look like Tom Seaver
Time to shut Clippard down for 2 weeks at least. I'm wondering if the league has figured out he's tipping his pitches...bc his stuff is essentially the same as it was earlier this season when he was getting people out, but in the last 4 weeks he's fooling nobody with his changeup. As Nuke said to Crash Davis, they're teeing off like they knew it was coming
Some reversion to career norms was obviously expected for Hicks and Castro. I get giving Sanchez a day game off after a night game, but this lineup really needs him to be dangerous. Otherwise, the offense has been mostly poop lately

You can easily tell from the camera behind the mound when he grips his change . He digs in deeper and spins the ball off his palm , which is a common prep for that pitch . Nobody on second , harder to relay. Think it's what Leiter said earlier in the week. He's a timing -feel pitcher who has lost both. The Yankee bullpen blows just now. They were a ball 4 from Shreve away from 0-2.
Girardi & Kay both need to retire desperately .

Gut check time for many on this roster include the manager. Hopefully there are some minor tweaks coming in the week ahead.
Letting Carter hit last night
Putting in Clippard in a close game and refusing to replace him.
Resting Gardner and Sanchez is taking two big bats out of the line up.
Stop trying to reinvent the game.
That's a little harsh. They can't perform for some of these guys.
The situations at first and third are serious issues for this team. Austin is not the answer and Torres is simply not an everyday player.
Wow awful. we are19-23 since May 9th
No kidding.
Yes, they haven't played well over the past 2 weeks. However, to be fair, they've only lost 2 series at home during that 50 game stretch... to HOU in early May and LAA earlier this week. They've lost road series, but more than 2/3's of the sport has losing records on the road.
Joe really needs to give Clippard a break. Hopefully Austin will look better with a good night's sleep. The lineup is really lackluster when Sanchez sits.

the organization or Girardi. You could tell he wanted to say something as soon as Clippard came in but he backed off quite a bit. Then went on to say how important Clippard is to this team. I don't see that. He's a complete liability and Joe shouldn't be bringing him into winnable games.
No kidding.
Not sure what game you guys were watching, but when Clippard came into the game Kay immediately suggested to Cone and O'Neill that the way TC has been pitching, bringing him into a game that was still close may not be a good idea. In other words, the exact opposite of what you guys "heard" him say.
CF Aaron Hicks
DH Aaron Judge
C Gary Sanchez
SS Didi Gregorius
3B Chase Headley
1B Tyler Austin
RF Mason Williams
2B Ronald Torreyes
RHP Michael Pineda
Raines
O'Neill
Jackson
WIlliams/Martinez
Posada
Hayes
Randolph
Dent

That's what I'm saying Jim. He started to make a point about bringing him in, then immediately backed off and started gushing over Clippard and talking about how important he is. It was a total backtrack.
