-Labeyrie will play in Orlando, should he make the team the Knicks would have 3 fluent French speakers
From the previous thread-
Looks like another summer league addition

is Xavier Rathan-Mayes from Florida State. At least according to a Florida State assistant coach.
-DX suggested he had NBA potential
First practice is Wed, Baker leaning against participating
Cavs/Nuggets/Pacers had discussed a 3 way with Love going to Denver, PG13 to Cleveland. The Pacers haul was never revealed.
Don't fret, Rambis is working feverishly to turn a revolutionary talent at center into a mediocre low post player. What could possibly go wrong? Remember: Three-pointers are "cheap."

Often the question is asked, why is the 7'3 floor spacer who is still physically developing (as expected) not standing 3 feet from the basket?
I worry that this and the Rosen column are Phil planting stories for Dolan to read. See, it's not just Phil -- the media agrees, KP spoke back to master and has got to go!
I'm sorry but this is bullshit. You're telling me the media "frenzy" would prevent the Knicks from practicing or playing as well as they can? The media takes itself way too seriously because of comments just like this.
Coach the fucking team. Fuck the media.
Spreewell and Houston couldn't co-exist together because they played the same position. Starks wasn't going to flourish coming off the bench. The locker room was going to explode because the Knicks traded Oakley for Camby. Mason for LJ. Remember those gems? All of them...BULLSHIT.
Coughlin couldn't bring in FAs. That was fun too. Or how about the Tiki Strahan feud obliterating the Giants locker room and playoff chances before the season began? 10 wins later and a playoff berth later....
This team needs a fucking leader with balls. Coach the team for fuck's sake.
[quote] He was asked about it by a reporter after game 82 last season, and laughed at the idea of it. Remember his reaction to the SLAM Magazine player rankings last year? He views himself as a top 10 player still, and top 10 players don't come off the bench. And it's not like he's blocking a young SF on our roster. Who starts? N'Dour? Lance? The good news is he'll likely waive the no-trade in a second if we tried to force that role on him. [/quote
Ok fine. Then he can rot on the bench. What's Melo going to do? Quit? Go ahead...please....please quit.
Melo is done dictating things here. He's got one ace in the hole left and that's the NTC. That's all he has. You want to wait out Phil there Melo? You want to exercise your last power play and insist on staying here with the Knicks? Fine, no problem. You're the 6th man. Don't like it? Bitch on twitter. Tough fucking shit.
You dont have to go from zero to 60 on this. You can also tell him that this will be the drill right now, and maybe he buckles on the NTC.
2. He's not that valuable anymore, especially making close to 30M.
3. The Knicks have made it clear that they don't want him. Teams are smart to wait it out and see if they can get him for free.
I think its the NTC mostly. The teams that he'll go to, CLE and LAC (supposedly) dont have any decent future assets. They have no interesting young players. More importantly, the contracts they have to offer back are either core pieces or terrible. Generally teams in these situations trade futures and expirings for a vet; not vet for vet.
Melo can still log tons of minutes. Take millions of shots and score a shit load of points. He can still take the last shot if needed. And you can still transition the team over to KP and taylor things in that direction.
This team is just pathetic if they cut Melo. It would be as dumb and senseless a move as any in their history. The guy isn't dead or lame. Melo is a legit 20 PPG player that can rebound. WTF...I just shake my head.
Mudiay and a pick would be good enough for me,he's flashed enough that it would be a decent gamble.
I think this makes some sense. But for those trying to add in Melo to the Cavs pursuit of Paul George? It's not happening.
Teams know the situation- they aren't dumb. They can easily wait on a buyout. And for those suggesting using Melo as a 6th man or just outright benching him? No chance in hell on this Knicks team. You guys are underestimating how powerful and connected Carmelo is around the nba. He's got more friends and power than Phil Jackson.
You want to wait until after free agency to see if a team like Miami would bite or the Clippers or Cavs give up some future draft picks? That's fine. But you can't start next season with Carmelo if you really want to rebuild. Send a message that it's KPs time and they are going with a youth movement. Having Melo gives them another 5-10 wins that take you from a top 3 pick to a 8-10 pick. Some magical package of young players and picks isn't going to appear.
There's also going to be a "tanking vacuum" this year. Knicks should take advantage and get a top 3 pick. But knowing Phil, he'll be signing vets for a shot at the playoffs.
1. Phil telling Melo there will be no buyout is an unnecessarily aggressive move when there is no indication Melo is actually pushing for one
2. Coming out and saying it almost legitimizes the idea of doing so, by not speaking about it it's almost like saying "cmon, that's ridiculous".
If Melo begins pushing for one I could see Phil stomping that down publicly and behind closed doors but right now it seems unnecessary. Phil knows the market for Melo better than we do. He knows if moving him is realistic or not. Either there is an outline of a market for him (possibly predicated on PG13 etc) or there isn't and Phil has to prepare to go into the season with Melo.
On paper Orlando has a lot more talent than the Knicks and I don't think it's particularly close (save me the "I'd take KP over anyone on their roster" because that's not my point"

I know they were awful last year but I would still bet on them winning more games than the Knicks
I suppose that's why Minn is telling everyone that Rubio is available. They want FA PGs to know there is an opening there.

Obviously looking forward to the three draft picks, but also Artis. His age hurt him on draft night, but he looks like a player. Hopefully he and Dotson develop so we don't have to overpay the Justin Holidays and Lance Thomas's of the world anymore.
Even if they can't pull Lowry, George Hill would be a great fit for what they need. He is an efficient scorer, good shooter and is a plus player on the defensive end. He's shown throughout his career that he's fine playing off the ball and would be a great compliment to the young core they have.

Wonder why. Sixers have only gotten stronger.
Hometown team, desperately need a 2nd/3rd scorer depending on how you feel about Beal.
Have the contracts to get it done, too.

The implication was he doesn't want to be traded anymore
I would not be shocked if Lavar went on a killing rampage one day
