I think the Finish Flash (aka Teemu Selanne) is the only lock.
I'd vote for Kariya and LeClair but don't think either gets in.
Kariya had his career ended by a Scott Stevens hit that would be a suspension today or he probably accumulates enough points to get more consideration, and LeClair was just IMO the prototypical power forward in the NHL. He was what guys like Chris Kreider should be.
Anyone I'm missing? Mogilny? Recchi? Love Recchi, but think of him as hall of really good, not hall of fame. I know some CuJo supporters on here.
Of course he never should have been allowed back into the game. Stevens literally knocked him unconscious for a brief moment.
Kariya was already declining from concussions even before the Stevens hit in the Finals. Truly great player for about 5 years, merely very good after that.
I don't think either quite make it
The rather large HHOF Class of 2017: Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, Dave Andreychuk, Mark Recchi, Danielle Goyette, Jeremy Jacobs, Clare Drake.
don't know Goyette or Drake, no issue with Selanne or Kariya obviously Adreychuk and Recchi I can see a case for too.
Jacobs, don't care.
Recchi is another guy who played forever and ever. His points total was higher than I expected, but still feels like a guy who was very good for a very long time but never really great.
I wouldn't have felt like it was a major slight if he never got in.
I met him at the Mario Lemieux celebrity pro-am golf tournament in the late 90's. Good guy you'd never know he was a hall of fame hockey player from meeting him. small, doesn't look super athletic and is very personable.
Recci is an interesting case, considering the games played and championships and being a darn good player.
I see Recci over LeClair, but I'm not hockey guru.

Agree Lindros made LeClair better, but how much? Best hockey I've ever seen is the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and LeClair was 2nd in the tournament in points and was an unstoppable beast. When you score 50 goals three years in a row and 40 goals 5 years in a row it's not all someone else.
not saying that should qualify him for the HOF, and I agree he probably doesn't get in and I have no beef with that, but he is the guy I'd make a role model to players with the size of Kreider.
Paul Kariya was an awesome Black Bear - 100 points, NCAA title, first ever freshman to win Hobey Baker. Kyria was one of the early wave of college players to (easily) move up to the NHL. Used to be the best kids would play MJ and college was thought to be for guys who weren't good enough to play professional. Especially for the Canadians. Great player.
No problem with any of the class.
