NFT: NFT: Yankees transactions 6/26/17 1:00PM Ellsbury and ..

malslayer : 6/26/2017 1:02 pm
Saw on Twitter that Ellsbury has been activated off the 7 Day DL and Hicks placed on the 10 day.

It looks like according to the Yankees updated roster, that Herrera has been brought up and Tyler Webb sent down.

Also Refsnyder back up with Mason Williams sent down.

I know its early but can't wait till Andujar gets his shot. Been lights out at SWB in 6 games so far. Only real prospect at 3B in the system and on the 40 man. If Chase H gets dinged again and Andujar stays red hot, may not be too long that we get to see him in the bigs.

Go Yankees!
Andujar is the goods with the stick
DennyInDenville : 6/26/2017 1:04 pm : link
He's certainly ready.

But his glove is a concern, that said he's on the 40 man and has an AR15 for an arm
In other news
Beer Man : 6/26/2017 1:56 pm : link
CC seems to be healing slightly ahead of schedule. He threw 35 pitches yesterday with no discomfort.
Refsnyder is the other move...
Dunedin81 : 6/26/2017 1:58 pm : link
I've been as big a proponent of the kid as anyone, but at this point he's not hitting in pinstripes, trade him for peanuts or just DFA him and let him get a fresh start elsewhere, bring up someone who addresses our needs.
Andujar isn't coming up until his defense improves
Greg from LI : 6/26/2017 2:02 pm : link
He's only 22, there's no rush. He's not ready to play 3B in MLB yet.

In theory Refsnyder can play RF, 1B, 2B, 3B in a pinch right? He's not hitting well now but I think there have been times when he has. I'm not sure Yanks have another player with his utility potential.

It's obvious Girardi is not going to play him so not sure why the keep brining him up. Time to promote either Fowler or Frazier until Hicks is back. Gardner and Ellsbury are both going to need some rest....and Judge can use some days as DH. Shouldn't be too hard to play them 3-4 days/week while Hicks is out.
Mason Williams plays well, send him down because he's LHB
TheMick7 : 6/26/2017 2:14 pm : link
& Ellsbury bats LHB. Both times they called this kid up,he's played well. Why not give him an extended chance.Ref's not the answer!

Wade can play everywhere, he's a legit speed merchant (worst comes to worst, he can pinch run late in games), and he's big-league ready.
I'm surprised Wade's not here already.
bceagle05 : 6/26/2017 2:18 pm : link
Take some at-bats for Headley, throw him in the middle infield on the rare occasion Castro or Didi need a day off, and be the fourth outfielder while Hicks is on the shelf. Plenty of at-bats for him.
Is Wade
LS : 6/26/2017 2:35 pm : link
on the 40 man?
Were there any issues with Williams ?
Ron from Ninerland : 6/26/2017 2:44 pm : link
I know he can't hit much but at least he was a real outfielder. IMHO one of the problems they've since Ellsbury went down is that Hicks , Gardner and Judge have to play every day. They're overworked and it was only a matter of time before one of them got hurt. They really need a fourth outfielder. Refsnyder may be a marginally better hitter than Williams but he's a defensive liability . Plus Girardi hates his guts, while he seemed to like Williams.
I don't think he is
bceagle05 : 6/26/2017 2:48 pm : link
but is adding him to the 40-man any more complicated than just DFAing a guy like Ref or Mason Williams to make room? Pardon my ignorance on the subject. I can't imagine a guy like Ref would hold back a player like Wade once Wade is deemed ready for a promotion.
Wade being on the 40-man, I mean.
bceagle05 : 6/26/2017 2:48 pm : link
.
Wade is not on the 40-man. The only two minor league infielders
Del Shofner : 6/26/2017 2:49 pm : link
on the 40-man are Andujar and Mateo.
Wade is Rule 5 eligible at the end of the year...
Dunedin81 : 6/26/2017 2:55 pm : link
so there is no harm in getting a jump on things.
They need a right handed power bat other than
River : 6/26/2017 3:39 pm : link
Judge. Fowler is another Gardner,Els type. Frazier is the guy they need to call up while Hicks is on the DL.
Fowler is more MLB ready but the line up needs another thumper to make up for Hicks power.
Wade is Blocked by Torreyez who they are not moving.
Castro's cortisone shot will either help him or DL him we shall see. Refsnyder back up oh joy.

Anyone know Bird's status?
Damn, where will they find another RH power bat??????

Is Castro and Holliday not enough? What's this obsession with having only HR hitters. Whenever Sanchez is on the bench, we get bitching and moaning about Romine not having power.

It's almost like you don't understand the game that fucking well at all.

who can come off the bench hit the game winning home run?
Torreyes
Romine
Refsnyder
They are going to put Frazier on the 40 man soon enough might as well start his clock. Beside Els and Gardner need rest.
You are irredeemably stupid

Apparently..
FatMan in Charlotte : 6/26/2017 3:53 pm : link
only HR hitters can win games.

At least it becomes pretty clear why a new handle is needed every so often - the sheer stupidity finally forces a change.

If Hicks is out for more than a few weeks
Greg from LI : 6/26/2017 3:57 pm : link
....and oblique injuries tend to linger a while...I wouldn't be surprised to see Fowler.
The Yanks 40 man is a bit of a mess
Phil in LA : 6/26/2017 4:00 pm : link
And they would be wise to make some trades this season to open it up, as well as promotions to get the right guts on it.

Oh please stop with your condescending bullshit.
Castro is hurt(cortisone shot) and Holliday has really slowed down. Maybe Austin find it.
That leave Judge and Sanchez the real threats.
Els Gardner Fowler all hit Left handed too.

This Yankee team is sinking. 10-15 last 25 games?

The logical choice is to bring up Frazier
Had hoped maybe Fowler/Frazier might get a shot
Kyle in NY : 6/26/2017 4:05 pm : link
but I understand wanting them to get consistent ABs. But both Judge and Gardner could probably a day off here and there and Ref isn't going to be the guy to give them that.

The Refsnyder Scranton shuttle is just a bit tired at this point and really adds very little. We're still playing with a short bench cause he's not going to get any meaningful time
.
River : 6/26/2017 4:18 pm : link
Per Conor Foley, Greg Bird just entered the Railriders clubhouse in Syracuse. He's not in tonight's lineup and nothing hasn't been announced yet.

Defensively and as a baserunner, Wade is probably significantly ahead of Refs.
I know with baseball prospects
Beer Man : 6/26/2017 4:25 pm : link
the old adage that "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush" generally applies, but this team is incredibly stacked with OF and middle infield prospects. We hear all the time about Torres, Fraizer, Rutherford, Mateo, Fowler, and Wade all having big league skills (some having star potential). But, then today there is an article about 19-yr. old Estevan Florial showing big time abilities on the single A team. Sometime within the next year or two they are going to have to move some quality prospects as there are not enough positions on the team. They are also going to have to move away from Gardner and Ellsbury (and possibly Hicks) as they will soon be standing in the way of the future.
Torres is a lock to stay.
bceagle05 : 6/26/2017 4:30 pm : link
Where on the diamond, we don't know yet. I think Wade is a lock to stay in a Ben Zobrist/Brock Holt role. Other than that it's up for grabs over the next year and a half. If Bird can't be relied upon to stay healthy, I wonder if one of those stud outfielders is given a first baseman's glove.
They're already at a saturation point in important respects...
Dunedin81 : 6/26/2017 4:37 pm : link
Jake Cave would have a fighting chance of making half a dozen big-league rosters in baseball, maybe more. Even if Mason Williams didn't have a 40-man spot, he's probably 3rd or 4th in line for a call-up with us. And it's only going to get more crowded at the highest levels. Florial and Rutherford are legit Top 100 prospects in baseball, and if they keep progressing they'll force their way into the convo next year.
something might be seriously wrong with Holiday
32_Razor : 6/26/2017 8:31 pm : link
He has been complaining of extreme fatigue and Yankees Medical has sent him for a battery of tests. Kay was talking about it at gametime
Beer Man...
BC Eagles94 : 6/27/2017 7:27 am : link
Estevan Florial is one of our top prospects and most Yanks fans haven't even heard of him yet. He is absolutely raking at low A at only 19 years old. He is from Haiti, not a country you hear many baseball players come from. Currently plays CF too.
