Going to the Linc for Giants/Eagles?

Mkdaman1818 : 6/26/2017 6:34 pm
Thinking of going to philly for the Eagles-Giants game on Sept 24. Is it worth it? Is it a cool stadium experience, or is it hell? And where should I look to sit? Is there a "dedicated" Giants/BBI section us Giants fans sit in?
It's a nice stadium...

And they have priced out a lot of the real trash. There will be tons of hooting and hollering but 99% it is meant in fun. I have been to a lot of games at the Linc and the Vet and the only guys I see get in fights are guys that either (a) want to get in a fight or (b) can't take a joke.

If you can handle some ribbing you'll be fine.
Going to the Linc???

Haven't gone the last few seasons buy I went to the Giants/Eagles game in Philly every year for at least 12 years going back to the Vet. Stadium is nice and the fans aren't as advertised. A lot of shit talk but like he said, of you can take a joke and give some back you'll be fine and have a great time.
The worst experience I had there

Was trying to get out of the Linc after the GIANTS beat the eagles in 2005 or 2006. Some asshole jumped on my back and I swung around and it was Tommy the Elephant with his cape. Worst experience ever
Looks like I'm going!

Thanks all!
Linc is much better and safer there the Vet.

I went for the first 10 years...no issues. But I did sit in the club seats.

I also never wore Giants stuff...I would confuse them by wearing Yankees and Rangers stuff.

Do the Giants usually bring a lot of fans there?
Last season aside, it seems there really is much less blue @ the Link than green @ MetLife.
I went to the Giants game in Philly this past December

Wore my Eli jersey, and aside from some Philly fans wishing me happy holidays in a colorful manner, wasn't so bad at all. Was able to get a ticket on StubHub the week of the game for a reasonable price down behind Giants bench, and had a nice time talking football with some of the Eagles fans sitting in front and behind me. We bonded over our shared hatred of the Cowboys

As others have said, there were groups of drunken Eagles fans clearly looking for trouble on the way out of the stadium, but were pretty easily avoided. Fans could be worse in the upper deck obviously. There were plenty of fellow Giants fans there too
Really?

Wearing NY gear from other teams confused them? I doubt it....

I don't care which stadium you go to, you run into a group of drunks and rub them the wrong way, no matter what, and shit happens....

It's sad that you fear wearing your team jersey in another stadium, or god forbid, you have a Giant sticker on your bumper, and then you find your vehicle "keyed"......there are nuts everywhere....
Yea I've never understood the desire to go to Philly for a game

What is the point of spending the copious amounts of $ it costs to go to and park at a modern day NFL game and not be able to wear Giants gear, have anything on your car and cheer loudly???
I'll take my couch for $200 Alex.
And I love to see my teams on the road

in my 20's I saw the Yanks in Boston, Baltimore, Cleveland, Chicago and Toronto. Saw The Devs and Knicks and took Big Blue Travel trips to LA and Arizona in the 90's. You could have fun and root for your team there.
If you go....

make sure you drag the eagle around the parking lot before the game.

LOL....whatever happened to Rich?

I feel like people turn this into a "should I fear for my life?!" situation. It's just a football game. If you want to rep the Giants, you'll have to roll with the punches and take the ribbing in stride. If you do, no one is going to bother you much. They'll boo or talk a little trash - laugh it off and it's done.

If you don't want to deal with it, just wear something neutral. No jewels, just regular. You know.. like Tommer.

Last December I spent $85 for a ticket 6 rows behind the Giants bench, wore my Eli jersey, had no issues. Probably dropped another $25 on some snacks.

But if you're too scared of Eagles fans to go to a game on the road, probably best you stay home on your couch

I was always amazed that those scumbags could afford tickets. Must have come with their SSI checks.
Stay out of upper deck

Wear what you want but use common sense and dont get into arguments. You can bond in our mutual hatred of cowboys and redskins. Not a good place to go if you want to trash talk.
It's not as bad as the vet.
eclipz928 : 6/27/2017 11:11 pm : link
As mentioned, just have a thick skin, prepare for loose comments and some trash talking and you'll be fine. Obviously, you should try to avoid or ignore anyone that appears intoxicated.

But also don't be afraid to engage people - I've found that generally after a little bit of back and forth you'll find a lot of Eagles fans willing and wanting to have a good conversation about football.
